A poor noob with questions...

Lets face it...we were all noobs once...
Ok i ve got a couple questions to ask here...i tried asking them to other players in game but the only time I joined a server that had decent ping and people werent running off at the mouth about lag, we were so pinned down by aliens we only had time for "enemy sighted"s and "roger that"s...

1. Is the light-machine gun usless? I unloded a whole clip on a skulk and the sucker came up and chewed my leg off... is it really that weak or did the skulk have carapace maybe?

2. Any tips on wall walking with the skulk? I tried it a couple of times and I tried to sneak on the celing to the marine base and I fell right down in front of an angry marine with an HMG....not a plesant experience, mind you

2. Ok, situational question here... Imagine this: you are sneaking through the vents and back routes of the level to the resource node your commander just assigned to you. Opon arriving, you see a Gorge "building" a resource gatherer. The Gorge has no idea you are there. You have only standard equipment, as you expected no resistance...what weapon do you use to take it out before it can fight back?

The LMG is pretty good, but you really have to connect every bullet you fire with a level one running straight at you. Especially if it has carpace.

For wall walking, it's not like AVP where you stick to the wall, but where you have to constantly move towards it. Moving forward while looking down from a ceiling will move you down off of the ceiling, so look up when travelling on it.

I'd either take it out with my pistol or LMG. Any weapon will do, it's not that strong.

Ok thanks, I understand the wall walking now..you read my mind: I was trying to do it avp style

    1. Absolutely not. Now the situation may have contributed to this. Maybe it had carapace and you were un-upgraded (as far as damage)? Maybe he was close to a defensive chamber? Maybe not all of your shots were hitting? I'm not suggesting you're a bad shot, but sometimes it's hard to tell with the prediction.

    2. Practice, practice, practice. It would probably have been better in that situation to wait still and quietly on the ceiling of that entrance until the marines walked out through it. Then you might have been able to drop behind them and take a few by surprise. Remember, the skulk is not a charging class. Use him for ambush.

    3. LMG or the pistol if he's at a dizstance and you need 100% accuracy. But don't run up next to him in any case.

    Ever see starship troopers?

The LMG is perfect in my opinion. It is effective against skulks, but they run around so fast its hard to connect all of your shots to do the damage required. I find the pistol to be an effective weapon also, it does more damage per shot than the LMG and its great to switch to when you have to reload in battle and can't afford the break in firepower.

Many times I will unload a clip chasing down a running skulk then switch to the pistol when my that clip is dry to finish him off.

Also, at close ranges the shotgun will 1-shot any skulks (not sure about carapace upgrades though).

On the gorge, i'd just LMG him from my hiding spot, its very effective still. Low-level aliens aren't heavy in the health department.
