I downloaded v3.0 beta 1 file and installed etc, it shows up on steam, but it says i need to pay for it or enter a CD-key, argh, i dunno. What do i need to do please? I've already subscribed my Counter Strike: Condition Zero and cant subscribe NS using my cd-key. So what now?     NS is designed to work with Half-Life, not with CS. While I know it worked with pre-Steam Counterstrike, I really don't know how it reacts to CS on Steam and, specifically, CS:CZ.

    Have you successfully downloaded/played Half-Life? If you can get that working, then you're golden. If you can't, then it seems that a CZ key will not authorize you to play HL... in which case, you may be out of luck unless you pick up a copy of Half-Life. It's quite possible that this is the case, as HL and CS:CZ retail separately. I can't play CZ with my HL key, so perhaps you can't play HL - and its mods - with your CZ key.

    If you can't find anyone here who can help, check the www.steampowered.com forums. They can probably help you get a 3rd-party mod (that is, NS) running on CZ.

    Cheers mate. I downloaded CS:CZ a while ago, i tried playing NS, i downloaded, i logged on, but when i got to server screen it said please dont play in software mode or something, so i thought i could play with CS:CZ. My bad

    Oho, software mode! That's a completely different problem.

    You need to make sure you're running hardware acceleration; NS's visuals are too complex to be displayed by software video. For hardware accel, you need (unsurprisingly) a dedicated video card installed in your system. Then go to your Video Options in-game and select OpenGL or DirectX instead of software mode.
