Insects Infestation is a brand new and original mod for HL2. The basics of II are very simple, you choose between the 3 species of insects witch include: Ants, Termites and Wasps. Then you choose from 2 main classes witch enventualy evolves into 6 very distinct classes. Every class has its own set of unique weapons and powers.
II is at its core a RTSFPS (Real Time Strategy First Person Shooter) witch ans that it blends the two genres to make one very unique experience. You start the match next to your nest/ant hill/termite hill and you must work as a team to build your colony's defensive and offensive structures witch in theyr turn will make it possible for you and your teamates to evolve into stronger and faster insects.
The main concept is not new but the gamplay you will experience, will be.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
What a rip off !

Can they do this even? They just stole like everything from NS??

Anyways, it does look like a fairly good mod. I'll probably be the wasps <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
No, really.
Its just that they control vehicles with telepathic powers?? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
NS wasn't the first game that required "teamwork" and "building" to win. And I really don't see any similarity to NS.
Please quit posting threads bashing other Mods because they have like 1 thing in common with NS. You know you wouldn't like to be a DEV and having your game bashed because people from another game community think your "Blatantly ripping off their mod" which they are in fact, not.
Be considerate <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
II-> "Realistic" (the fact that it uses current-day creatures and properties)
If it had something called a pwnos and was supposed to be a tank or something, then yes, it would be a rip off. but instead it has ant hills, wasp's nests, and termite mounds, with all sorts of real-life insect species.
Sorry. Not a rip off.

agreed.
at least there is infestation in NS!
Imagine that... getting sued by id and Blizzard at the same time. You'd be like a hero. Except everybody would hate you.
Not rip off, and even if it was, I don't think we should worry. I mean, look at the appeal.
<b>Garden Battles: Lord of the Swings</b>
It just does not have the same underlining attraction as playing as an Onos.
Comparasion too:
"Omg I can EAT them! Whole!11"
"Wow, I can spray ascorbic acid in his eye."

Rinse & repeat. This could go on forever people, NS owes a lot of inspiration to a lot of prior work, but I'm pretty sure none of them in turn could claim to be completely original.
Please, give it up. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

If they're doing all original artwork, models, maps, etc, then it's not a BAD rip-off... But there's still a hell of a lot of shared structure.
<a href='http://ii.hl2files.com/alphameter.php' target='_blank'>Progress</a>
No wonder the game design is so far along <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Damn! Flayra could sue ID for that! OWNED!
And not to forget 20th Fox ... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
With one of the classes (was it the basic termite?) it says "...also has a powerful long range attack", so I'd guess it's not all-melee-combat.

I think it's a matter of "great minds think alike".
Is sim ant the one with the ant vs spider vs something else? Or is it you control ants and live like an ant.

Termites also come with mid and long range attacks, not just the basic one.
Anyway, I love the idea, but I'm still confuzed as to why they had to employ a bog standard symmetric unit design across species. Meaning theres the same light/med/heavy classes with the same basic theme for each side, with only minor differences. I mean come on - they're entirely different species, they should operate in a radically different manner :/
As for the whole cracksmoking crap about "shared structure" - hello, stuff has the same name. Thats great - they're just generic, non-descriptive names and for all you can see the actual mechanics look to be vastly different from NS. Assuming "Ressources", "Carapace armor" and "Hitpoints" makes it the same game is like trying to say every game with a gun in it is Daikatana. Thank god thats not true.
