I Have A Problem

weggyweggy Join Date: 2003-06-04 Member: 16998Members
I admit it. I have a problem. A very serious problem.

Whenever the commander drops a building, I immediatly snap my attention to it. "Yes, the top is flat and close to the ground... perfect!" I say to myself. I then begin my ritual.

Yes, I have a "jumping ontop of buildings" problem.

I haven't noticed this syndrome among any of my fellow marines. But if I'm interacting with a building at all, be it building a turret, or getting ammo from an armory, im on top of it.

Some buildings are more difficult than others. Armories, Turrets, and Turret Factories are easy to jump on. Of course theirs IPs and PGs, but things tend to end badly when I stand on top of them.

Res Towers are the ultimate goal. Its only possible to jump on top of them when another building is placed nearby to assist me in my jumping splendor, or when the terrain allows it. I perch high above my stoop, scanning for aliens, proclaiming myself the Res King. Add electricity for a nice effect.

Please. I need help.

Weggy, I think you and I need to start a support group for us.

This has always been the way I am.

Be it Armoury humping, building, welding, or just standing around waiting for the go ahead, I am always ontop of a structure.....

I think one feels secure because usually the aliens that kill when buildings are being built are skulks, if they can't bite you at ground level, it makes it much harder to come from above, or to climb the structure (not sure if that is even possible), rather, that if you stand on the structure you might not get killed, also its much harder to take someone from behind cause they aren't facing backwards towards any real direction, they can check in all directions.

I do it because I'm safe from ze skulks.

Usually there's another player that I have to fight over with for the position of the top of the structure.

Obs are fun to climb and even funner to sit on for the rest of the game, but you have to walk out and cap some nodes anyway....how troublesome....

Ahhhh, don't we all do that? it's acually pretty handy as you can keep an eye out all around you for sneaky people with silence, or holding shift.

    Ahhhh, we all have our habits <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I always jump ontop of stuff when I build it except if its a TF cause if you duck and try and build it doesnt work(you go through it). Just remember to get off the building or the comm has trouble upgrading it :

You wouldn't belive how much trouble i have with this in pub play when i'm trying to siege things.
I drop the TF and WP it for my rines to build, and one of them like a muppet will sit on top of it thinking he's got himself i good camping spot.
Mean while i have to scream down my mic for him to get off the dman TF beacuse i can't upgrade it ( i just keep selected the marine and not the acual TF) and as soon as he does get off it's normally beacuse he's died, and the TF is being raped by 6 skulks... GG no siege.

lol... Oh yea... Im addicted to build, stand, sit, attack, sneeze on top of em too... The most satisfactory one is to attack an alien RT inside...

And Comm's, try to understand please... There is no way controling ourselves if there is a building waiting to be standed up on...

    Hail to A$$... ^_^

I usually just stand behind watching the most entrance possible or at least the one that is most susceptible to be used.

    Freaks. The lot of you.

    The first step is admitting you have a problem <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I've found a much better place for you dieseased marines to stand, when you're calling for an rt to be placed, stand directly on top of the node, where the steam is coming out, it doesn't block the commander from dropping it but you can build your self inside it and it can save you a few hits from a skulk as they attack the res node and not you, if you're equiped with mines hide them inside the node just before the bit where the smoke comes out aswell, they become partialy invisible aswell, making skulks go boom.

    rofl haze!
i hear many cases of SSS (structer standing syndrome) but i have SHS (structer hiding syndrome) whereas i hide behind the structor im building, try the ip and pg, oy!
well the 1st step is admitting you have a prob, the next step is acting like an idiot, i do this best, the next, Staying away from it you are not permitted to go near it no ammo, no building. bah, im no psycholgyest (still laughing at haze)
well weggy, lets see how good you do at step 2, not jumping, unbind your jump key.

EDIT look! go here, this can fix it! <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=77651' target='_blank'>http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/in...showtopic=77651</a>

    Dear Weggy,

Thank you for applying to the JOBA Group (Jumping On Buildings Anonymous).
Here at JOBA, we do not judge, only help.
I myself have also fallen victim to this terrible mental afliction. That is why this group was founded, to help people like you and me and many more.
I hope you will encourage people you know that suffer from this debilitating disease in your entourage to join us as well.

    Tell tale signs include:

    * Nervous twitching outside of the game Natural Selection when approaching diverse pieces of furniture.
    * Inability to stand in line and when forced to do so, will try and force him/herself over other people to not have to do so.
    * Almost neurotic need to jump up and down when on a small surface.

    And many many more.

Please do not feel alone of frightened, there are many like you.

    Do not give up hope!

    ME<--ShootHere!!
    President of the JOBA Group.
