well. The Skin itself looks a bit too clean, even by my standards. The metal Texture itself lacks detail. Try to make it look discolored and pitted. Scratches are optional.. Ive never been a big fan of scratches. The Grooves on the back of the slide lack depth, they just seem to be dark lines. Try giving them a bright outline on one side to immitate the look that theyre actually cut into the metal... And your Blued sttel version is extremely blue.. try desaturating it a bit so it isnt quite as vibrant.
ok guys, ive got permission from QUAD to use his 1911 animations, its all assigned and ready for release <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

nice, my favorite part of it is the precise labelling <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Just as an observation, your contrast might be a bit too low, try upping it just a little so you get the Shadows darker and the highlights a little brighter.
Yes. Yes it does. However thats no reason to stop trying. Read some tutorials, Look at some other artists work, and Try to duplicate what you see. It just takes time and Patience, thats all.
Here. Kaine, as a Started, try to make something similar in Texture to this Slice texture off one of my Beretta models. Notice how the Steel is Pitted and Fouled using Spots rather than lots ans lots of white lines.
tbh brig, i hate the heavily worn look. any weapon that looks that bad shouldn't even be in service <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
the things i struggle with the most (disregard above) are sorting out a light source, and getting a decent metal texture. i know, i know, tutorials, but they all come out plasticy or just plain ****. some don't even work at all 0_o
oh, and i can't find any scratch brushes anywhere. maybe i'm not lookin in the right places, but getting a decent scratch going without major screwing around is beyond me.
Then Dont take my Advice.. Fine By Me. That way You can spend the next 2 years trying to figure out why none of your skins look right Before you realize that even Guns right out of the Factory have pitted metal.
whoa easy on. fark, its an opinion not an insult. i'm very thankful that you'd offer me any advice at all, but if you're gonna be all touchy and **** i'd rather you didn't bother.

PS: I do know the back of the slide, near the hammer has some lighting inconsistencies...

I'll have a mess around with the contrast when i've finished a little bit left on the skin.
Edit: @ RSX.
EDIT2: This should be compiled on the same anims as Drakes HG tbh, the original anims is just too light and fast for this gun.
