<div class="IPBDescription">My jaw just hit the floor</div> Yes, we all know this engine is way down the line. We all know that it'll take a ton of processing power, and that others will look like it by the time it releases. But just gaze at the eye candy!!

From what i've been hearing, it seems to just be an engine. I'm not sure if they plan to make "Unreal3."
Photorealism? lol! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Graphics will always improve with each new piece of software/hardware. I stopped being wowed by tekky stuff like that a long time ago and now I just kinda expect it as should most people I guess. Nowadays I'm a bit more interested in the art, design (the two factors from which the REAL prettiness comes from =D ) and gameplay.

While I *would* agree, some things get me very excited. The whole idea of bump/normal mapping just blows my mind, for one. And the addition of a physics engine in games is a genious that I just love.

I was chainsawing a guy in DOOM 3 yesterday, and he got stuck in a wall siesuring around and randomly being flung at different directions at 300 M/S. "THANKS PHYSICS"

It may be on high detail, but not with any sort of playable frame rates. That's some big leap in requirements for 2 years though, which will be about the time i upgrade next.

I wish to destroy you, large dinosaur alien.
It feels so slow, maybe it's because i'm a quaker by heart but every unreal game has failed me in that <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

DUFF-MAN TO THE RESCUE
They're nice. They're definitely not wow, they're obviously a technical improvement over say UT2k4 but I'm basically underwhelmed overall =P
I don't say stuff about gameplay and art just to fit some conception or fashionable gamer image, I just say it because that's what I like. An example would be that Soul Calibur II might have really really nice flowing animations and graphics but in all honesty I'd rather kick up a notch or five with some capcom vs SNK 2 or even more preferably; Guilty Gear XX, and they're just 2D fighters =3
They're generated by <a href='http://www.idvinc.com/html/speedtree_for_unreal.htm' target='_blank'>'speedtree'</a> which is integrated into the engine you're showing screenshots from. I bumped into it while looking up modding information some time back ^^
DOOM 3's phyiscs engine is more advanced than PK's. It just doesn't use it much. Its more for mods than anything else.
It says
Photorealism in games
Not matter how good the graphics may look with this engine, it still isn't photorealistic.

That is so true. I think Quake 3 still has the best engine to this day. It's fast, reliable, responsive, and it doesn't even stutter in difficult spots. Unreal 2 felt... sluggish when compared to that.
Besides, I'm sure it will take 3-5 years before we see even showcase games with graphics like that. Until then, hopefully there will be more Quake 3 tweaked engine -games. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Yeah because obviously all good-looking games have bad gameplay.
