Aliens need higher starting resources.

Pure agony
Most of the games aliens have been losing are due to the fact that by the time they get enough resources to get a collector up and begin evolving, the marines have already claimed a lot of the map. While all the gorges are sitting around charging, the marines are out claiming resources and filling hives with turrets.
This is added to the fact that the aliens are all hit and run with 1 hive, making it hard to hold areas until offense chambers can be put up.

I think a good strat to use at the start of the game is to have all the skulks go and stop the marines from expanding while one gorge sets up the base. The gorge will get the majority of the resources, and he'll be able to build much quicker. TONS of gorges at the start = not a good idea.

That might work, except for that fact that in public games no one will be that organized. Also, aren't aliens supposed to independant, whereas the humans work as a team?

That's how I won my last game on a public server .

Aliens can be independent, yes, but a few team tactics here and there never hurt.

Ok, so having more gorges means that the resources are spread between them? Someone said that in game, but I haven't been able to find that in the manual. I guess that's why my teams have always been losing with 75% gorges at the start.

So, one or two gorges to start with, and everyone else goes skulk and finds a nice camping place on the marine side of the map. Can't wait to try that out, provided I can get a team of players to listen.

Yup, the thing is gorges get more resources (proportionally) than other alien classes, so if you've got a TON of gorges and one resource tower, they're all trying to hog a relatively small quantity of resources, and it ends up screwing your team over.

A lvl 1 can h4x0r it up in early stages of the match. This not only is graet fun but also helps your team. Also make sure you are capping hives fast, if you have skulks occuping the marines you dont need as much defense to start out with. EXPAND QUICKLY. that is key to any rts also distract. 1 skulk can create enough confusion with a quick chomp at the marine spawn 8-)

Hope my 4 hours game experiance has helpped heh

If everyone goes gorge, expect to lose. There needs to be diversity. And you can contain marines with only a couple of skulks. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that most of the problems are due to not knowing the map. Nevertheless, if you skulk rush the marine base, and parasite a few marines, or even one or two, you will have just given your team a big advantage early in the game. Either the parasited marines remain in base, reducing the effectiveness of any advancing squad, or the marines move out, and you can see where they're going.

There's a lot more to NS than meets the eye. If you don't play it the way it's supposed to, it might come out smelling all funny.

I just played two games where the aliens complete owned the marines.

You guys need to stop thinking everything is unbalanced and just play. Enjoy the game for what it is.

All tonight I was hearing in #naturalselection how overpowered the marines were. How god like HA is.

I killed 3 marines and a HA as a Fade. Hell, I even killed one as a Skulk.

The game has been out one day. Give it some time.

Alot of trouble and effort has gone into balance, and you wouldnt believe how muchtime was spent just getting starting resources and harvesting perfect. Aliens really need to have a few gorges (at least 2, 1 is bare minimum) off grabbing resources nodes, while maybe 1 stays back to build up defense. Once a few extra nodes are grabbed, start trying to build hives 2 and 3. This also means that there need to be other aliens harassing and attacking marines so that the builders can build in relative peace.

This game is so similar to the AVP series, but so much better!

I have to say that one poster on here got it right... Balance has been placed on this game... 1 dqay of play does not give a complete understanding of the ins and outs... Lets give this mod a month and players the time to refine styles... I think you will find aliens are very nasty.

Just for the record with 3 defense pods and sense pods (only 2 hives) I was terrorizing marines in hvy arm. Just sit as a skulk in a corner on the ceiling completely invisible and jump down right on top of them... you get 2 shots on em before they even can react and you can either finish them off or run around the corner and repeat as you stealth within seconds. You get marines pausing every 5 seconds to have the place revealed.
