Onscreen newbie hud "hints" question

I like this feature, but it there any console command or anything that allows me to configure where the hints appear on the HUD? Somtimes when I'm looking at something, the text is right in front of a model and I can't read the text hints because it blends in with the colors/lighting of the model.

Thanks

    do you have the ID configured to center?

    Dont.

    Turn off autoID centering ...

    Well, it's set to whatever the default is.  <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    What variables do I need to edit in my config.cfg file?

    You mean the hints that come down on the right hand side? Sorry, no, there's no way to configure it. Only way to read them would be to move the screen so the background doesn't blend....

    But I've never seen that particular problem before. Where are they blending in at?

    well, they come down on the left-hand side, actually.  I'm talking about the object ID or whatever its called, like if you look at the hive or whatever it will tell you what it is. And if you move the crosshairs away from it to try to read the text better, well then your crosshairs are no longer on the object and then the text goes away.   I'm running 1024 x 768 if that matters.
