Being High-profiled Sucks

<div class="IPBDescription">You can ask my sister!</div> Well, let's look at it this way.

<a href='http://taciturnity.squall.nu/2003/fanart/022803.html' target='_blank'>http://taciturnity.squall.nu/2003/fanart/022803.html</a>

Yep, that's what my sister drew. Not necessarily the best piece my sister has ever done, but meh.
Now this is where we start hating people <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

<a href='http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=13667&item=5912967820&rd=1' target='_blank'>http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5912967820&rd=1</a>

Yep, being high-profiled does suck <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Not only that, but the seller failed to email her about using it. Normally, she would let them have the go provided they email her before actually posting it but meh.

Actually I did ask her to <i>demand</i> 50% of the profits from the seller, but she didn't want to. I figured all wants to do is stab said thief with some sharp object <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Yep....I sure bet being highly popular in Final Fantasy forums suck....a lot.

    So what did she do about it? I want to read about some justice here!

    That's really bad though, stealing is wrong <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Well, that's where being high-profiled comes in a bit handy.

    With her being in one of the largest Final Fantasy communities, she has a really big fanbase to back her up o_O

    And when I mean big, I mean almost as big as these forums, maybe even bigger. Been a long time since I've been there XD

    EDIT : Okay, not as big, but it STILL is big!

    And this is why people suck.

    Has sher contacted EBay and told them the person is selling copywrited stuff that they don't own?
    Make sure she asks for their information so as to sue/threaten thier sorry arses.

    She was checking on my PC while I was getting my fix of Cola ^^;

    Anyway, she told me she has just contacted EBay. Unfortunately, we can't really sue them due to the fact that we aren't necessarily swimming in money. Let alone have enough to pay electricity and water bills <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    contact a lawyer, many will simply take commision off of what you win (and charge nada if you don't win)

    I doubt that any lawyer is just going to pick up this case, and think "Hmm, yes, today, I shall dispense some indiscriminate justice, and earn myself a few greenbacks."
  • RaVeRaVe Join Date: 2003-06-20 Member: 17538Members
    Well, the lawyer bit can't be helped, with some of the problems Hong Kong is facing today <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Well, all we can do is wait for eBay to take it off (if we're lucky)
    But other than that, we realy can't do anything about this.

    And on an off-topic note, <a href='http://www.ffwa.org/forums/showthread.php?t=52041' target='_blank'>I despise my sister for being able to draw so well</a> <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Contact EBay. I'm pretty sure they can be talked into taking action.

    The pictures that this seller is using to promote his shirts is linked from <a href='http://auctionworks.com/' target='_blank'>Auctionworks.com</a>.

    I'd make sure to let them know what one particular customer is doing with their webspace.

    It would had probably seemed flattering, if they had not printed their own address to the front and deleted her sig from the corner. It's kinda sad that no one has invented a punch-back screen yet; we all could give a good ole five-fingered to the face of that thieving jerk. It's probably the same person flooding Google with "FREE XXX TORRENT ANIME CLICK HERE" sites...

    But until that, does it really matter? Maybe you should print your own copies and try to make a few bucks out of it yourself. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    demand 50%? hell she can demand 100%

    Remember Bittersweet Symphony? The Verve lost 100% of the profit to the Rolling Stones because of a sample in the song

    If there is one thing that I truly despise is taking credit and making money off other people's work. I also bet this isn't the first bit of stealing they've done. Someone needs to contact PennyArcade, SomethingAwful, Slashdot, or Maddox about this. If any of them post something about it then "eSeeAnime" is screwed.

    man...

    ok, A) you say you're not swimming in money, B) you don't want to bother filing a law suit, C) this guy is actually managing to sell her artwork, and D) you said your sister has a pretty big fan base...

    you should first contact e-bay and let them know what's going on, and then you should tell your sister to start making a profit off of her OWN work, because her work DOES pwn...

    I mean, really, if you compare the size of her community to this one, there would obviously be a demand... she should sell her prints, and t-shirts as well... and maybe even do custom art for people...

    it's just sad if she has such talent and she's not even getting anything out of it... of course the only truly good art is the kind that doesn't have some sort of financial agenda, but still, everyone has to eat <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Bad news is that my sister is gonna probably hit me with a broom today for posting it here XD
