Has anyone
I am thinking about buying a refurbished video card for about 80 bucks. Its a geforce4 ti 4600 and it is from newegg.com. I know someone who bought parts refurbished and was not very happy with them. But he bought them off of some random website and the processor which he bought didnt work right. I trust new egg but wonder if it is worth it to buy a refurbished part. Its a better price than some people buy 4600's on ebay but also more expensive than others.(i would never buy electronics off of ebay for more than 30 bucks)

btw the 4600 speed easily compares to the more expensive fx cards in speed and even the 9800 xt isnt too much faster, just that it doesnt have all the bells and wistle i couldnt give to big of a damn about

its kind of a crap shoot........ on one hand, some cards are returned to the manufacturer because a simple IC burned, or it had a cold solder joint. Then you have the ones that were fried...... if you get one where they just had to replace something simple, you should be fine, but there are also problematic ones....... my best suggestion, dont by it if it is a final sale(cant return it) or if it doesnt have a warranty.

Blah. I got the video card and cpu from a place I use to order all of my RAM from. The motherboard was the only thing that didn't work....well, and the video card....

Anything that has at least some warranty (even a month) shows faith on the part of the makers. If they don't have that faith, I wouldn't gamble on it.

Otherwise, you can give your card a stress test once you get it. If it passes that without issues, it should be fine for the future. Otherwise... you did get one with a warranty, right?

I've got a similar refurbished card in one of my desktops that hasn't ever given me any trouble.

Why buy a refurbished 4600 when you could buy a new 5200 for $60???

Get a warranty, run it over with a car, and get a new one
