Weird Stuck Positions

ok i just started playing ns again yesterday only problem i had was that maps differed.... i fixed that and today for some reason, i get stuck. for example, im walking and aiming for a skulk but its like i cant move my crosshair while im walking... does anyone know why it does this? while this sudden rush or "lag" starts to happen, when i type it like lags too it takes like a second to type a word...
im using windows xp, geforce 4,2 ghz and things i run while playing ns is zone alarm and steam only!!! thanks
