They said that paying to play is a FUTURE plan. Don't get all excited about it now. Wait until they actually say exactly what is going to happen.

    Reality check:

5 dollars? I could find that much in pennies off the street.

    $5 is nothing,

To play a "normal" sport can cost around $100AUD (~65US$ maybe) a season for club registration, and then some places charge you extra for playing at the facilities, ~5$/player entry fee each match, 5$ a season is nothing.

You're all too used to getting everything provided for you.

Paying is a problem for those without a credit card like VISA, MasterCard, and so on. Just having to buy one so you can pay a measly 5 bucks to some measly league is a bit too much to bugger. Besides, it's more about the principle; either it is completely free without any gimmics, or then it costs. If it costs, you expect a lot more than from a free product.

I think you guys should just wait for a offical CAL announcement rather than basing this all on one or two news articles you found online.

I'm semi-for the $5 p2p. Good ridiance. It'll prob mean no more pre-teenies screaming into the mic with their high pitched voices. On the other hand it's a hastle and a very annoying trend in games. Especially MMORPGs.

    CAL p2p vote:

No, it's a stupid capitalist scheme! Let us play for free! 39%

    I don't play in leagues, so I don't really give a hoot. 34%

Yep, it'll keep out people who aren't serious about competing! 27%
