Onos digest was specifically introduced for that purpose. Yes, onos come late game, but so do HA. S 10 res gorge to wreck 100+ res of HA suits by biling from a vent is a bit unfair IMO.
Lerks have always been the "support" class that is so essential for weakening armour. "Ah yes," I hear you cry, "but HA are not effected by Spores." This may be a different issue, but why? Yes, air filters are mentioned in the story; but this relates to armour... how?
I am personally a fan of the HA "Gas filters" idea, where HA could only stand a certain amount of sporing before they start to slowly loose armour. Welding may "clean" or repair the filters, depending on how balanced this is.
Reasoning: Lerk is underplayed, despite being a viable and cheep class Onos are expensive, and cannot easily charge into a HA train with HMGs without quickly resembling Swiss Cheese. Spores do so little damage to rines it makes the lerk look rather pathetic. Leaving the damage as it is and allowing HAs to be damaged by it opens a whole new role for the lerk. Lerks are just as easy to take down as gorges, (ok, a little harder due to the flight,) and are actually an AGRESSIVE class. Why a gorge should be called in to deal with a HA train I don't know.
Downsides: It would make the gorge less attractive than he would be if he had the afforementioned Train-Nuking abilities... (ie Bilbomb attacking armour) The BileBomb's damage to structures but not to HA still remains unexplained. (But hey, it's nanites, right?)
Comments? (There's already a thread for discussion of the spores idea, so we're just looking at the comparasion between Bilbomb/spores hurting HA here.)
Edit: ^^ Lito's another lerk fan. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> Hmm. The problem again comes down to balancing in Pubs/Clans. The above idea is probably more balanced in a pub, where an Onos is just expected to deal with anything (s)he comes into contact with, including HAs. - HA make short work of onos. In Clan standards, one Onos w/o umbra is Chees'dy Swissed. - Teamwork is necessary, and an easy counter to HA.

Sadly on most pubs the skulk players lack the wit to rush, and the lerk is too busy camping the vents. But if you're REALLY lucky, and you've got good players, then this combo is really good.
Its also helped by a blink crazy fade, as I can almost guarantee the rines will by trying to kill it to the exclusion of all else.
