actually the fps drop isn't signifigant, because the twin mesh is only %20 rendered at all angles, its only like a +200 poly count from the rendering standpoint, I'm currently playing with all cel shaded models... yes all... on my TNT2 card... and I have a steady same as always fps, no crappier
  • BAshhBAshh Join Date: 2003-08-26 Member: 20222Members, NS1 Playtester, Contributor
indeed, i've been playing with full celzors too, and i havent experienced much fps drop

The cel shading is great and all, but I just dont think it fits too well with the NS atmosphere, probably why im not using any cel shaded goodies. :x

Bashh, your cel shading actually looks really good, you might want to try to apply that to a mod like ESF, where it really fits.

OH DAMN i forgot to include the MF's here you go made by mwah

if you dont get why the mf says 'TA!' on the sides, do this; say a long string of ta's reallly really fast. sounds almost like machinegun fire. ^_^

ESF is the Dragonball Z mod for HL, it's actually really fun...kind of grueling until you get the right 'l33t skillz' to play it right.

Almost any game can look good cel shaded. TFC is a big example of that, with models like Souljahs.

arhg ESF is a really badly ripped off version of Bid For Power, on Q3, ESF totally butchered it
  • PerditionPerdition Join Date: 2004-07-02 Member: 29692Members
    ESF > Bid for Power.

Anyway, i'll most likely try these out once I get my PC back. Shouldnt suffer any FPS loss either, considering it's coming back to me with the Radeon 9800. Mmm, cant wait. Anyway, lookin' good Bashh, keep it up.

HL doesn't render faces which normals are facing the wrong direction i.e. the "invisible" faces that you can't see (because faces have only one visible side) no matter what. Can't remember right now what it's called, though and I can't give better explanation right now (can't find the words). So eventually the fps-drop is not significant.
