<div class="IPBDescription">on redemption</div> how does getting more dcs get u a better redemption upgrade? is the percentage chance u teleport back to your hive greater?

and also...the more scs u have, the further u can see someone with sof?

Redemption: Dunno, I would guess that your chances of making it back improve with more DCs, but honestly, stay away from redemption like the plague. It rarely works, even with 3 DCs.

SoF: Yes, Up to 3 SCs will improve SoF range.

Not to mention Redemption is horrible for hive defense.

Lol redemption while prtecting the hive is fun...you just about die, then teleport across the hive room... <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Everyone says redemption is bad, but the one time I accidently clicked on it instead of regen as a fade, it worked 6 times in a row, lol.

Yes, it does go up by percent. Most use to pick it as gorges, but since it doesnt work most the time now so people dont use it any more.

It works most of the time if you just run like a madman when your health is in low yellow/red...but its still a bad upgrade when comparing it to regen or cara. I remember once i got redemtion instead of cara as a skulk...and i went to xeno and it brought me to the hive right before it went off <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

regen is basicly if you had to fight for res to get that only, much needed onos/fade in a losing game. You then might consider picking a pull to safety upgrade.

Still, I think 1.04 redeem worked way better.

I used to use it in 2.0 as gorge because it was very effective at keeping me alive.

Now its less than useless, you're better off with cara or regen and hopping back to the last DC you dropped.

Its true that it isn't as effective as it used to be, but that doesn't make it usesless. It needs a bit of time to work, but it will work eventually. You'd be surprised how many times it does work. Its much more effective with a higher lifeform, so its basically useless for lerks and under (unless you're a good bullet dodging gorge), semi-useful for fades, and a nice upgrade for onos when going on kamikazi runs.

Redemption's main use is as permagorge or early game gorge. It'll probably keep you alive as long as a marine isn't standing on top of you shooting you. Once anything more than lvl1 lmgs are out in the field your chances of surviving a close up encounter are practically 0. This is why it's not very useful, it doesn't perform it's function very well against higher marine weapons and upgrades. The only way to make it really work by mid-late game iis to take a large amount of damage and then avoid damage to give redemption time to work, which often isn't fast enough to avoid death.
  • NecrosisNecrosis The Loquacious Sage Join Date: 2003-08-03 Member: 18828Members, Constellation
And since a permagorge is meant to be alive thru weapons 1-3, you don't want to be stuck with redemp.

Hence I prefer regen, since I like to take adren as my MC choice, as it allows healspam. Some would say that celerity is a better choice for running back to the DCs, but it does mean that healspam and bb spam are nonexistent.

yeah... pretty much with one chamber, you can choose the upgrade it provides
with subsequent chambers, you can advance your upgrade so it has better chance to redeem (65% me thinks for redempt) with three dc's. You cannot advance past lvl 3... but build more dc anyway...

SOF does get better with more sc yes...along with focus and cloak
focus- more damage, slower attack speed
cloak- faster cloaking - more invisible (65% me thinks)

i still get redemption for my perma gorge in scrims and pugs, just when ur under attack jump around and strafe like an idiot, once u get around 60 hp try to get out of site and u'll teleport

key to redemption : dont rely on it, try hideing when u get low on life and u'll get tleeported

I forgot exactly how redemption works but one of the alternatives should be true.

    1. Redemption keeps checking your health every few seconds, when it's under a certain percentage it will try to redeem you. As level grows the chance of you successfully being redeemd increases.

    2. Constant chance of being redeemed but it checks your HP more often.
  • NecrosisNecrosis The Loquacious Sage Join Date: 2003-08-03 Member: 18828Members, Constellation
I think its the first of the two, since people seem to report that running and hiding increases the chance of redeeming.

I hate fighting redemption aliens. There was one match in ns eclipse where an onos kept attacking our base.... he did lots of damage because he didn't bother to try and retreat. But EVERY TIME we were about to bring him down, he'd redeem (and torture us again a couple minutes later). We managed to win but that onos held us back for a loooong time.

In combat cara rede is really good!

Just try cara rede onos. My best is 40/4 and those 4 came as fade/skulk

A redemtion onos should be able to do VERY little damage.

Yep, especially if you have HMGs.

I believe the more dcs you have the % of your health where you are eligible for a redemp increases. I belive this because i was a redemp gorge on eclipse with 1 dc. I got shot down to a certain amount of health and ran away to wait for a redemp (hoped for a redemp). Didn't happen. I went out and go hit by one more bullet and lived and this time i ran away again and waited and i redempted. Later when we had 3 dcs i got shot to the same amount of health that didn't redemp me at 1 dc and then i ran and hid and this time it redemped. Redemption will always work if you wait long enuff under the eligible health. apologies if i am insulting any intelligences. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> .

agreed accept if ur on like 2hp as a gorge an ur a long way from the hive
  • NecrosisNecrosis The Loquacious Sage Join Date: 2003-08-03 Member: 18828Members, Constellation
Redempt onos are only viable at one hive, if you're doing an early rush.

However, at second and third hive, and particularly facing upgraded rines, you will be shot to hell within seconds of showing your horns. On better servers, you'll do little to no damage to anything. Better to pick regen and just go on a rambo death run.

i thinks its something like 50% when you get 3 dcs.
  • NecrosisNecrosis The Loquacious Sage Join Date: 2003-08-03 Member: 18828Members, Constellation
    Redem, from the manual -

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->
REDEMPTION :: For every second spent near death (below 40% health), there is a 35% per level chance of teleporting back to a hive.
    <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

making level 3 105% percent chance. This is evidently a lie.
  • j3stj3st Join Date: 2004-06-28 Member: 29602Members
it doesn't say for every chamber...so i guess we have to assume when 35% is for 3 dcs...which sucks as u'll easily die in 3 seconds from 40% health
  • NecrosisNecrosis The Loquacious Sage Join Date: 2003-08-03 Member: 18828Members, Constellation
It does say PER LEVEL, so we have to assume they mean per chamber.
