[wip] Haloesque

[insert random gung-ho weapon name here]
A goodly morrow, one and all. Here be something I was initially concocting for ut2k4 but figured the polycount would probably end up low enough for a HL mod. If I finish and skin this chappie somebody else will have to do the animating if they are willing.

~1300polys so far, likely to climb towards 2000-2500 as details are added, then sink back down to around 1700 during optimisation.

Woah! What the hell am I looking at here? I like the general shape of the weapon, but im a bit confused about it.

Is that a gigantic banana clip you've got going on there, or is it a bullpup style rifle? I hope it's got a giant banana clip...that'd make it soo cool.

It's a bullpup. That "banana clip thing" is my trademark pointless sticky-out bit.

No concept art - I designed as I went along, though it's inspired in equal parts by an old ut2k3 player model concept (she was holding a gun) and the Halo AR.

Once you're out of Ammo, you could use that clip as a boomerang! Awesome work.

Hmm maus you know any good tutorials that could show me some ut2k4 modeling? I know half-life, just wanted to try another game for once :|

sooo.. the magazine is at the back of the gun, and that giant curvy thingy is just a handle?

Although maus said it was a pointless signature... it looks more like a giant hand guard or something

no **** shirlock , theres diffrent factors involved, like how skins are handled, how it animates (bones/nobones) if it requires diffrent ref files, lots of things can be diffrent.

It's been almost a year since I did anything low-poly, so I'm somewhat out of practice. As I said, there is optimisation to come, which would knock it down a bunch. The clip and "banana thing" alone come up to 500 polys at the mo.

@ kitki - then you're going to hate the final version, as it'll be even longer ^^ - it's going to loop round to the base of the handle.

Oh well, nobody ever appreciates true genius - I remember everyone being all "wth" with the shield on the Project X lmg
