Bring it in
Please. The console command "thirdperson" does nothing. I see lots of skulks spinning in circles and btiing; would be nice to have the option of seeing ur character in its environment.

Third person view is WAY to exploitable... Therefore it will never be in.

third person allows you to look around corners and also look through walls

the looking through walls is due to the HL engine, if it was somehow fixed... thridperson view is acceptable by me.

It simply doesn't belong. You're supposed to be absorbed into the environment, immersed in the world. 3rd person kills that completely.

Plus, it does allow you to look over ledges and around corners. This is true with every third person game I have ever played, and there is probably no way to fix it.

By putting the camera exactly behind the head horisontally and eye level will probably fix this exploint. But then you would have a head taking up half the screen.

it doesn't allow you to look through walls if it's well programmed (a few lines of code have to be added in order to avoid this bug)... but it allows you to look around corners and skulks would be overpowered.

Besides the exploits, third person in Half-Life looks like crap and is not functional at all. Also, for skulks it makes it very difficult to know where your bites will land since your character model turns based on the direction you're moving.

3rd person was considered before 1.0s release and discarded due to the close quarters of most NS maps. Also, this would a) belong in I&S, where there are, b), already such topics, which brings us to c), ***locked.***
