Lets hope ninturdo learned it's lessons from the last time they launched the GBA.
I bought one and couldn't play any of the games cos the retards that made it didn't put a back/front light on the screen so they could boast it had a 15 hour battery life
Add to this they put the most reflective screen guard on ever so that when you tried to sit under or near a light you got blinded by the glare!
This was such a BAD decision it prompted ninturdo to re-release the GBA with a back/front light in the GBA/SP.
Good thing the people at triton labs came up with the afterburner kit is all I can say.
yay i love my after burner gba look at it glow: well that aint my gba but its prettymuch the same and why should i find my camera for you losers : )
DS was originally only the code name, but now it's been made the offical name, and thank god for that. 'DS' has so much more impact than whatever they were going to come up with, I just had a feeling nintendo were going to come up with some bollocks name.
And coil always puts all the fanboys to shame, and thank god for that.
And Nintendo are prefferring to refer to it as 'Developer System' as well as Dual Screen, as it will be an innovative system to develop for.

Both of the DS's screens are backlit, though. Both can display 2- or 3D graphics at 60fps, and the processing power will be approximately on par with the Nintendo 64. Preliminary impressions suggest that because it's using a backlit LCD, the DS may actually look *crisper* than the N64 does on a TV screen. Sw33t.
I got the impression from the Nintendo press conference at E3 that DS does stand for "dual screen," and that "developer system" is kind of an Added Bonus Acronym - like saying that NS stands for Natural Selection, but it also means "nice screenshots" ('cause what screenshots of NS aren't nice?). They made a big deal out of how kick*** the DS is for developers, both because of the way it is built and the sheer innovation factor of the two screens.
Yes, the E3 incarnation of Metroid Prime: Hunters required you to aim and shoot using the stylus. I imagine it worked at least well enough to be display-worthy, but I have heard since then that they're definitely still playing with the control scheme. I wouldn't be surprised if they use something like the original Metroid Prime, and have a "strafe modifier" on one trigger.
It is beginning to look good, when compared to the old, clumsy prototype. Still, if it were a choise between a wide-screen/more power, and DS-screen/less power, I'd probably the the wide-screen.
Even though I have to admit that the jacket-design will be useful if you do not want the screen get dirty or scratched -hope Sony has something similar in mind.

PSP has cheaper games, but the base system and batteries will drain your wallet...
DS is the cheaper system, and a longer battery life, but cartridges are generally more expensive...
PSP is nice in the sense that it plays movies, music, etc... BUT we must never forget Nintendos goal in gaming... INNOVATION (new ideas), which keeps things fresh and exciting. NS was an innovative game since it blended RTS and FPS, it would make Nintendo proud.
It also helps that Nintendo has a headstart in games (all the GBA games work with DS).

It appears to be that the names of these systems follow a pattern in that they all follow the trend in technology.
I wonder if it will ever come to the point of names such as gameboy future, gameboy the future is here, gameboy utopia, gameboy heaven.

If you played Starfox 64 you'll enjoy it.
Well anyway, DS has me.
long battery life
plays gba games

touchscreen
folding allows both screens to be protected
