Anyone Want Their Map Tested For Competitive Play?

nspug can help
For those that may be unaware, nspug (#nspug on irc.gamesurge.net) is a communty resource for organizing pick up games between random players that simulates 6v6 scrims/matches. A few months ago, a default map setting was added to the bot that runs things, and since its inception it has been set to the current week's CAL map. Since the CAL season ends in a couple weeks, and for most teams next week, we won't have a default map set, and there will potentially be more pugs played with clans breaking up or not needing to scrimmage. Thus, instead of playing the same maps over and over during the offseason, I'd like to run some custom maps to provide something new for the players and also feedback and testing for potential maps.

Maps should be near complete (lit, textured, etc) and be potential release candidates (well designed and following the mapping guidelines. We aren't interested in gimmick maps like siege, missilecommand, etc). They should be ns_ maps as well, since co_ is seldom played in pugs.

So if you are a mapper and would like some balance feedback, let me know by posting here, or message me on irc and we'll run a few selected maps for a week or so each.

I'm currently working on v6j which will have some more details and fixes to Omega Hive and an increased transit time from MS to the North Hive but v6i is stable enough for playtesting.

    I think I'm in love.

    Cheers for the heads up.

Alright, we'll probably use these two and ns_rust. I'll let you guys know where you can read comments, or I'll refer people to your respective threads.

Are you sure you can't sly in a well-built, saucy co_ map? I really need a large-scale playtest of it. You can get it here if everything's kosher.

The thing is that combat isn't really played competitively, and very seldom is it ever even played organized. You're much better off trying to balance for pub play with pub player input.
