Alien Abilitiy Levels

Ok, I have been playing NS for a few weeks, mostly co maps. As a marine, I can level up and get things like level 3 armor, etc. Howerver, as an alien, once I upgrade an ability, like celerity or carapace, it is greyed out for the remainder of the game, and I can't get to higher levels of those abilities even though the auto-help states that higher levels are possible to attain. What do I need to do to get higher levels of these abilities, if possible? Thanks for the help.

    When you play combat alien abilities are automatically at their maximum level. ie. getting regeneration will give you level 3 regen.

    Yeah, only in NS mode can you get higher/lower levels. This is determined by how many chambers you have of that type, to a maximum of level 3 upgrades. You can still build chambers of that type, but they will no longer add to an upgrades efficiency.

    however there are ability levels, represented by the number of hives in ns or the level of ability upgrades in co (the left upgrades). Theyre called ability upgrades because they give you new abilities to help win the game, like the infamous web.

    not always. i just had a great game where we beated a cargo reloc on tanith (fusion hive) with sc and lerks.

    NS is close to fine balance at 12 players, maybe a bit marine baised.

    It's much better than Classic at any rate , when classic is in its current state.

    OMG I SAID COMBAT IS BETAR TAHN CLASSIC OMG BANT.

    Diablo, that's pretty funny...last I heard, aliens were almost always getting trounced in clan games.

    He's probably referring to public play, which I suppose is allright. Alot more public play going on than clan play, so it's probably worth looking at.

    before we say we heard this or heard that and so and so side always wins, etc, maybe someone should tally up all of the wins/losses in all clan matches for the past...however many months it was since the newest beta came out.

    Oh my I always thought shotguns decimated those early fades. I mean people who are in clans usually can AIM. (And they know things about hitboxes etc.)

    I will confess that I never played in a clan match. However, most servers in my country are always full of regulars, which gives you a clan match-like experience, at least IMO. Aliens usually get pwned hard in classic, unless there's skill stacking or the comm decides to play badly.

    I dont have a problem with the balance in clanmatches, its playable for damnsure. We just keep using our stoners as fades at 1am with disasterous results.

    It depends.. (based on my CAL experience), good team vs. average team good team wins 2-0, good team vs. good team generally marine wins both sides, average team vs. average team, it can go in any combination. I've personally (in match and scrim play) had marine ties, alien ties, and 2-0's.

    For the most part I can say that balance is better than it was in 2.01 (where fades ripped through anything (bugged hitboxes as well)) or 1.04 with HMG/JP rushes winning the day.

    There are certainly things in game play that need to be adjusted and we are looking into those. The flip side is the devs are preparing a release of (mostly) bugfixes which will give us a more accurate impression of where the problems truly lie and what we need to look at tweaking.
