<div class="IPBDescription">...about World of Warcraft?</div> This is a honest question. If someone can give me ONE instance where it somehow is better than the current slew of RPGs in any way-shape-or form, then I'll gladly be a follower of it. But what I've seen so far are blocky models, terrible texture painting(high res sure, but they don't look good), blocky environments, so-so spell effects, and the same fighting system that we've been doing since the invention of the MMORPG genre, except with less customizabilty, being there is only 1.5(the hunter is KIND OF) speed classes, tons of warrior-based classes, and tons of magic based classes. Only the races may change things up, but it still seems like too many of the classes are exactly the same.

When there's simply too many of them, just throw this and run... it should buy you some time =P
But in all seriousness, it appears to have the potential for a great game. The Warcraft games allow for an already deeply defined history that most players are familiar with. If this game capitalizes on that (which it appears to be doing) then it should be quite interesting. If it caters to character development over level grinding, then it should prove to be a very fun game.

LOL
Its so true....
See where they screwed up? Fun games for the first few hours, then....WHAM theres that wall of "This isn't much."
And while the world and history is great sure, what other big-name MMO doesn't have a very feasible world? It seems the only reason this is getting hype is that its by Blizzard- a company which its last few games really made me go "I wasted 70 bucks..."(exp and reg game).
The horde/alliance thing seems pretty cool, so do instance dungeons, also owning your own mount at a high level, and swimming. Also the Rest system seems like a nice way to make sure that me and my friends keep a close distance in our levels.
The melee and mage classes seem different in their own ways, just like every class of every game I've ever played. Nothing new, nothing different, but definately not the same.
Also I like the blocky textures, makes sure that me and my friends can play the game without having to worry about frame rates, I don't know about your funds, but me and my friends don't exactly spend a grand a year on keeping our comps up to date.
In the end, this seems like gold when I come from the **** of FF11.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA no.
FFXI is quite good if you get past lvl 15 thank you. If you get past it and still don't like it, YOU WON'T LIKE MMORPGs FOR ANOTHER 5+ YEARS.
And blocky models is fine if your on low settings- but why not have many versions of the same model, ranging, like every other major MMO has? I wonder if thats a good idea...

Neither is party hopping, or hoping to find a good party. Or fighting solo to get nearly killed by something that only gives you 15 experiance. You can never do anything fast in the game, you always have to devote atleast 3 hours to stop at the end and go "hey I accomplished something today". WoW seems like a game I can go on and spend an hour of my time before I head to work and actually gain some exp.. although I could be completely wrong, as I said before, I'm not a beta tester. But this game does seem like it will solve this problem, so it does seem like the MMORPG for me, maybe not you.
Also, did you read any of the good stuff I said about WoW, or did you just defend FF11? =/

Getting opinions on another subject allows that.
And Rion- as I said, your not gonna be liking ANY MMOs really then.
Now, back on topic!

it doesn't entitle you to be rude...
I really do not see why anyone here should have to convince you that a game is worthy of your attention. You seem to have already decided that you do not like it in its current state. I misunderstood your original post as asking why we were interested in the game not why you should be interested in it.
Why not just wait until it is released and then see what it is like?
Warcraft III just wonder why you hate this. I just don't like how multiplayer games work. Such as in regular (The one where you press play then it looks for other players) games 4v4 you ask them the plan they say lets rush. Also you rarely see any regular warcraft3 maps being in play unless your doing it with some friends or clan. People kick you too fast (DL is at zero).
- Adventure together with thousands of other players simultaneously. (<i>im thinking huge battles against the two sides... key word "thinking"</i>)
<u>- Explore an expansive world with miles of forests, deserts, snow-blown mountains, and other exotic lands.</u>
- Join the Horde or the Alliance as one of 8 playable races. (<i>8 is a decent number</i>)
<u>- Select from 9 classes, including holy Paladins, shape-shifting Druids, powerful Warriors and Mages, demon-summoning Warlocks, and more.
- Encounter many familiar and new Warcraft characters and monsters.</u> (<i>I did in WarCraft 1 .. 2 .. and 3. I just hope they put something new in to fight.</i>)
- Learn the continuing story of Azeroth by completing a wide variety of challenging quests.
- Journey through an epic world filled with dungeons of different styles and depths.
<u>- Explore 6 huge capital cities, which serve as major hubs for the races inhabiting them.</u> (<i>Every MMO has a major city... bleh.</i>)
<u>- Practice various trade skills to help locate reagents, make and enhance custom items, acquire wealth through trade with other players, and more.</u> (<i>Alright, but it's still the same thing as "go to the mill to get the flour, then the well to get water, then the forst to get wood, fight some elves..." bleh</i>)
- Purchase tickets for travel along a number of air routes flown by creatures such as Gryphons and Wyverns. For global transportation, travel by Boat or Goblin Zeppelin.
<u>- Once a certain level has been achieved, players can choose to purchase permanent personal mounts, such as Dire Wolves and Horses.</u> (<i>Mounts ain't nothin new, and are probably needed in MMOs, anyways.</i>)
<u>- Establish a guild, purchase a custom guild tabard, and promote or demote recruits to different ranks within the guild.
- Locate and engage other players with easy-to-use features and tools, including chat channels, friends lists, and animated and audible character expressions.</u>
- Customize the game’s interface via XML. (<i>Interesting.</i>)
<u>- Enjoy hundreds of hours of gameplay with new quests, items, and adventures every month.</u>
Not very promising...
However, once you go deeper into it it does get better... but not by much.
"Want to forge a keen-edged sword that just screams 'deadly'? What about brew an arcane potion? These abilities and many more fall under the heading of Trade Skills in World of Warcraft"
Hopefully not requiring a insane amount of leveling, first...
"Each of the major cities represents the capital and a major hub for the races that inhabit them. The cities are all radically different from each other in themes and appearances. More than just a collection of buildings with NPCs standing around, the cities will serve as a place for adventuring, shopping, training, socializing, and much more."
Goodie, theiving the idiot NPC, while fending off city guards one by one maiming and killing at insane amounts...
Blizzard is walking a fine line between "Something really f***in' awsome!!1" and "Blows chunks/same old MMO game". But right now, it's too difficult to tell where it's going. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Not looking forward to it myself, but that's mainly because I dont play MMORPG's.

yes.
Ah well. At least it got fishing. Heard you could get some sort of treasures through fishing.
And you can also skin animals which you have killed and looted for your classes that do not wear metallic armor and are restricted to leather XD
