My Modem Is Screwing Up My Comp

blue screen comes up and a physical dump is performed, i am then forced to restart the comp

this happens everytime i use something internet related, mozilla, ie, messenger, but for some reason, not when i play online games. weird. anyways, are there any drivers to stop this problem? or maybe settings? i cannot get my modem to work on ethernet so that rules that solution out

im running windows xp btw, and if ure wondering, these comp specs..

3.0 ghz intel p4
nvidia fx5900xt
sb live!
asus p4p800 SE
512 ddr
