Works most of the timeq
Well, one of my favorite, and most successful strats, for NS_HERA is this:
At the start, EVERYBODY rush to OUTSIDE of Archiving hive, and relocate there
Looking at the res node, you see this:

IGNORE THE ASTICKS! They are just placeholders... the zero is the res node, and the rest are walls or doors.
Well, you take the res node, put a CC and 2 IP's in the little cavernous thing to the right (looking at the res node), put the obs and arms lab near the res node (for electrified cover) and the armory somewhere between the CC and the Res Node (preferably out of the way)
You put a t-fac in the 2 corners across from the com chair. That allows coverage of NOT ONLY your base, but also of the double res node on the other side of the wall, as well as the Hera Entrance and Reception res node, all while those turret factories stay safely hidden in your base
This also prevents them from setting up the archiving hive, as long as you don't let them get past you )
So now, you have 5 res nodes (+1 Archiving Hive, +2 Holoroom, +1 in your base, +1 at Hera Entrance and Reception) all covered by turrets, and in QUICk access...
From there, it's just a matter of sieging out datacore, then JP+HA tech rushing Ventilation )
You can also put an elec t-fac and 5 turrets + electric res node at marine start and cargo bay That gives you 7 res nodes, and you put a phase gate in marine start for if you have to beacon!
That strat only lost ONCE for me... and that's cause my friends were on the other team and knew ahead of time what I was doing and how to combat it (I won't tell you how to combat it tho )

And, if aliens have that hive, just relocate to hera entrance and reception, grab some SG's, upgrade hand nades, weld open the door, and slaughter it all

everything in bold is where your strat starts to go wrong
Same goes for marines vs a lone OC
1.- its a slow tactic. building all that turrets and wasting all that res means having little or none upgrades. very painfull when lerks and fades r out
2.- turrets can easily be killed by 2 or more skulks so to make them effective u should place them in a way that 3 or more turrets can fire at the same skulk puting a lonely turret is just wasting 10 res (as many people alreafy pointed out)
3.- so u have an elec rt at base to cover arms lab and obs and what about the ips? i see turrets defending it but if u put turrets why use elec?
4.- u cant make jp rush if u r locking down so many points in the map
5.- as in all relocs u dont have beacon to defend base
6.- u controll 5 rts and aliens can control 6 rts
tbh if that tactic works is cos alien suxs they can block u inside archiving and kill ur turrets in hera and holoroom
I can use 1 t-fac to cover 3 areas (HoloRoom, Hera Entrance and Reception, and the marine's relocated base), thus saving me a bit of res. Also, that leaves Holo and Hera Entrance better defended, as they can't just remove the turret factory to shut down the turrets! 4 turrets w/ a t-fac behind the wall + an elec res node = hard for anything but a fade/onii to take down.
The main point of this strat is to rush rush rush... keep the pressure on! Around 5 min into the game I already have at least 6 res nodes, and possibly am Shotgun rushing the aliens hive... if the relocation was hard it may take longer, so I'll have my rines go to choke points on the map and build 2 t-facs + turrets, then have them camp there to hold back the aliens...
ALl in all, as long as my rines trust me, this is a very successful strat
this strat is slow, you might wana ditch the turrets, get faster upgrades can keep your marines running out in groups of 2-3 marines to target alien nodes, and to maybe get a pg up if they get some where useful.
IE.
- 2 marines constanlty pressure processing
- 2 marines go to MB then to mantenace
- 2 marines go through holoroom, into cargo, then into mantenace and meet up with the other marines
This would mean you could clear out 4 nodes, maybe more if you got the ventilation node down by sucide rush.
Once that node is down, have the marines return to bases, grab sg, and weld into datacore, by this time you should have some upgrades, and a hit from behind should be relatively easy.
They are down to 1 hive and 1-2 nodes now. keep up the node pressure with LA marines, and lock down the hives you have. Then drop HA and kill the hive
Turrets suck. The only thing they do is to hold off skulks off phasegates or give you that small extra punch when seiging a hive.
Beta 5 turrets will be affected by weapon upgrades. They were supposed to all along, but a bug prevented it from doing so. You can tell because in an older build (escaped my mind for the moment), you'd sometimes hear a turret make a weird firing sound once, then go back to the old sound. That single shot took advantage of the weapon upgrade, but the bug was that it never did that again. Ever.
You can check out your nsp/sound/turret/ folder and listen to turret-1 to turret-4.
Each one is a different weapon upgrade (turret-1 being no upgrade, turret-2 is turret firing with weapons 1, and so forth).
So we'll see if they're not utterly useless now.

I think i know what you're talking about....
lets see.. when you siege out data core do it from the upper processing side

POST it on this fourm.
And degamer, you don't have to reply to every thread! A high post count doesn't bring you great presteige! In fact the quality of your responses would probably grow if you didn't post as much.
