<div class="IPBDescription">..not finished...</div> But I'd like to know what you all think <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
This is my first ever map for half-life (or any game <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> ), so its taken me a while learning tools, concepts, etc and i'd say its been hard going but this is what i've made!
<a href='http://www.gptech.net/qwerty/ns_indianopolis_b2.zip' target='_blank'>NS_INDIANOPOLIS</a> (This is an older version of the map, some of it is the same though as now feel free to explore i'll upload the newer one soon though!)
Now i must let you all know that it really isn't finish (no location names, and couple other things), but i'd just like you peeps opinions...
Also if you can think of any layout changes its all appreciated... i'm here to learn after all!
[Edit]PS!!!!: Can someone compile this thing with the nshulls.cfg when i'm done with it?? Cause i cant get these damn batch compilers too works, and onos getting stuck every few metres isn't fun <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I like the last pic. But maybe change the light to something more red...? Looking forward to seeing the progress on it... <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I'll see what it looks like now then quick, with redder light off the lava
EDIT: typos..
If this forum had the "NS mapping awards 2004", you could look forward to the prospect of scooping up <b>Best Newcomer 04</b> award.
<span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'>Hey, that isn't a bad idea. Ooh, I could present, I've got this tight white ball gown with seams to <i>die</i> for.</span>
Err, forget that last bit.

its a very nice map specialy for your first i just suggest you work on your textures a bit more and some of your lighting but your architecture is great
<img src='http://www.gptech.net/qwerty/ns_indiantest0000.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
<img src='http://www.gptech.net/qwerty/ns_indiantest0001.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
<img src='http://www.gptech.net/qwerty/ns_indiantest0002.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
<img src='http://www.gptech.net/qwerty/ns_indiantest0003.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
Ok then, the first shot is pretty much perfect, good work.
In the second shot, the walls, floor and the ceiling seem very flat and somewhat boring. It's worth breaking them up with lights, or changing their levels/setting in portions of them to contain computers, wiring, grates, pipes or whatever. Add particle effects for sparks etc to make the room more alive.
Third shot is also pretty good.
Looking forward to seeing this map progress <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->.
EDIT
i was actually gonna use that hallway thing
<u>|\</u>
In the first shot of that second batch, you have broken up the ceiling nicely with those supports and the lights, but adding some pipes or something like that in the ceiling, and off-setting the lights (maybe sling in a few light_spots) as well, would make the architecture and detailing a lot more interesting, and spice up the bland looking parts of the otherwise good room.
Plus, experiment with coloured lighting in larger rooms to highlight corners/ceilings. Most of the lighting in these shots is of a pale colour, so why not sling in a few electric blues/reds/oranges/greens to spice up the lighting a bit (blues and greens could be added using computer panels, thus adding detailing as well <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->). Reds and oranges are good for detailing pipes or vents (or adding a warmer feeling to an area), and blue or green obviously ties in nicely with computer lab type of areas or for areas that you want to add a slightly colder feel to.
Apart from that, it's looking good, keep us updated <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Don't forget that light_spots are your friends, they just add some great stuff to the map. Great work
i like the walls. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Anyway I made a new entrance to the south hive on the map (Hammer-Lift Hive )
I'm gonna upload a potential playable beta soon... i must say though naming random corridors and rooms is hard =/
Anyway piccy's:
The new biggest room in the map, fades can be deadly in hear i'd think!
<img src='http://www.gptech.net/qwerty/ns_jjj0000.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
Same room as above but from other side
<img src='http://www.gptech.net/qwerty/ns_jjj0003.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
A new corridor connecting to the big room
<img src='http://www.gptech.net/qwerty/ns_jjj0001.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
And lastly a bast style broken down tram which is just outside the south hive
<img src='http://www.gptech.net/qwerty/ns_jjj0002.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
Anyway thats all i've done for now, i'll try and get some more done before the end of summer though!
thats just a test map so i could compile lights quick <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Its also quite annoying aswell, as it took me a good few years to master hl mapping =[
