yay, more computer threads!!!
I'm gonna keep this short. Basicly, I'm looking for a middle end industry soundcard that isn't a creative labs. Normally, I'd just go, "great, I'm gonna get it from turtle beach", but right now isn't normally, because I live in Canada, can't find a shop that stocks the damn things, and am not gonna pay to have it shipped from the states. There inlies the problem, I need a good alternitive card (or a turtle beach) that I can find in stock in a canadian computer shop, that isn't marked up to high hell (the one turtle beach card I COULD find in CA was a sierra, and they wanted $160.00 canadian for it).
Any advice on good cards or good shops would be much obliged.

Wierd random squeeking sounds at the beggining of some sounds, suxxors with athilon 64, audigy and audigy2 are more or less the same card, other things that bug me...
Where's Talesin when you need him
Note the only sound card available is turtle's top of the line card, which they want 150 for. I'm only looking for the midrange card, and I'm not really even considering buying thier top of the line card at double thier websited quoted price. I'm not an idiot med, I had already checked ebay.ca
[edit] BTW, has anyone tryed an AOpen? I saw one at my local comp shop for a pretty good price, but I was wary cause I had never heard the name before. Anyone know anything about them?
[edit again] I'm a retard, there's a santa cruz on that page selling for aprox 14$ canadian, although it would have to ship from cali, with the 20 dollar shipping (aprx) that's still under my price cap...

Yeah, they make and assemble lots of computer stuff, motherboards that cater quite a lot to overclockers, various video cards, cd-rom drives etc. I think AOpen mostly just makes the printed circuit boards and mount the chips. Checking their website I see only one sound card out of ten who's audio processor they are making themselves(or rather, that they designed themselves, I don't know if they make them), the others they just made printed circuit boards for and mounted processors from either yamaha, c-media or from fortemedia.
Basically I think it's more a question of do you like the manufacturer of the processor and does it support the features you want.
