How Do You Make A Cs Map Work?

I have cstrike.wad and co_de_dust2.bsp
After playing co_de_dust2 on a custom map server and enjoying it, I thought I'd try installing it on my own server. I am certain I have all wads and models, plus the map.bsp and sounds, but when I join the server there is no option to join either team and although I am in the spawn area I see no armory or cc, or hive if I head that way.

How do you get a cs map to work on a ns server? What am I missing?

That was one of my sources, but certainly not the only one. There must be something one installs server-side to make this work...any clues?

The entities are handled server side, you need to use ripents to add the NS specific entities... the players wouldn't need to download a new map if they already have the BSP.

"How Do You Make A Cs Map Work?"

Simple answer is to play counter-strike and use its FGD. Like other CS Mappers.

They wont give away the source for the maps
they cant say u wont be able to have any maps on ur server when u figure out how its done.

The only thing that is discussion about is that u need the mappers permission to edit his map for NS use, witch NSA havent done, so some mappers is really **** at NSA.

iirc some server had "their" maps on them... than NSA said them to take down because they are NSA only.... that's it D:

Yeah, qwertyaccess is pretty good at what he does. A few maps he even wrote plugins for just to make them work properly(seen avalanche?). But for the most part, he's just using the stripper2 plugin. People who connect to the server download the original map, without all the shiny NS entities, but stripper2 uses a config serverside to add the entities to play. When it's all said and done, you have a non-functional map downloaded that you will need to do some work on to make run. If you're interested in learning to use ripent (and by extenstion, stripper2) head on over to www.joe.to and take a look at the Editing Map Entities article. It's fairly straight forward from there. If you need further help, ask in the mapping section of the joe.to forums and you're sure to get some assistance (though Volmarias may scream at you ).
