Meets the following filters:
- Its located in western europa
- People speak english
- People use voicecomm, on regular basis for tactical information only
- People are not n00bs.
- No stupid plugins installed that fill up your screen with useless text, and that dosnt require you to download tons of costum idiotic sounds.
- Fun maps are disabled.
- Is NS only.
- Has good and active admins.
- Have no slot reservation that kicks you when someone wants to join.
- Is NS3.04A & STEAM.
So far, I havent found any server meeting these requirments, only n00bs, lots of downloads, idiotic plugins, boring games, unskilled commanders and etc etc.
I'm not saying I'm proffesional, but dosnt every game has a few servers that is only filled with proffesional people scaring off the not-so-good people.
Because this is turning a bit into CS, alot of servers with alot of crap attached to them.

If you do wish to visit such a server you may want to try the TG server (<a href='http://www.tacticalgamer.com/' target='_blank'>http://gamers.memory.net</a>), although located in the US you'll have an acceptable ping and you'll have the highest chances of getting your wishes granted. There were alot of servers like the one you are looking for in the past, they all tended to die out at one point or the other.

I assume you yourself are located in Western Europe, use English through VoiceComm responsibly, and are not a newbie.
You could start a Beta 4a server through Steam, and it would have no stupid plugins, only standard NS maps, and no slot reservation (not that it would matter, with it being your server and all).
Requirements met, objective completed.

I once thought this, too. But then I figured, 'nobody tailors a server to what some other person wants'. So I took matters into my own hands: I set up a dedicated server on my home computer, customized it to my exact specifications, and played from the same computer. You don't even need a kickass rig to do it!
yeah but this one is always full... but if you manage to join it you can have a good game.
well there were good games on the NTFM server but it's dead now (name changed and devoted to nspug)... it was always empty...
you don't need to download these files, if you don't they won't play, that's all.
Why are people so paranoid about cheating in NS? Its rediculously uncommon. If by some chance a cheater does join, just switch servers for an hour or so. Wow, that was difficult, wasn't it?

I only know of 2 servers that come close to that criteria, however all are located in the US, and don't fit it 100%

Both servers have Reserved Slot reservations for paying members, and both run a mix of CO and NS, however the server will automaticly switch to a NS map on map change if there is enough people (10+) for a fair game of Classic NS. Both are well admin'd. Custom maps are available, but not in standard rotation. No silly sound packs <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> Use of the voicecomms is only for tactical reasons, voice spam will be removed from the server post haste.
Your pretty much looking for the Holy Grail of servers. Unfortunatly, I doubt it exists, at least not on the public Internet.
So, people need to be on their toes all the time, in case one of those rare occurences join? A server with CD enabled gives, at least, to me much better impression that one without.
As far as reserved slots... get a reserved slot. I love the darn things, since im guaranteed to get a spot on my favorite servers. Though I do realize how the auto-join thing doesnt really work then. A shame really, would be nice if you could have both.
Opinions again, I see; no facts. What makes it annoying to run and why? It runs easily in the background, doesn't slow down the game and does not even interfere with anything. Plus, it can be configured to automatically update itself. Thus you honestly cannot say ANYTHING negative against it beside the regular "anti-cheats sux0r!" <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I don't know about him, but I can't play with C-D. A message comes up on the screen telling me that something naughty is being used, and I am barred from doing anything ingame. Bleh.

Said 2 servers are big community names, one of which I've been playing since 2.0, the other one I've only started recently. The longest played one is the best I ever use, tho lag is nightmarish if Sprint are having problems (since tracert tells me I'm going through their servers). The second is ok only as long as you go marine, as without exception the alien *teams* are hopeless.
Not mentioning names.

(+) i dont think i have EVER seen a non-english speaker on the server
(~) voicechat is MOSTLY serious, but sometimes us -(CL)- members get into some interesting conversations
(+) server has VERY good regulars (ive seen PTs on the server, im also fairly sure Flay was on it at one point)
(+) no silly plugins (unless you think the awards plugin is silly), it has the /res plugin, and recently added the chambers on wall/cieling plugin, uses combo of adminmod and AMX (~) if MvM is considered a "fun" map, yeah. it aslo has co_blackmesa
(-) it DOES run combat, but only if people vote for it (mapvote plugin)
(+) all -(CL)- members are admins, and from what i have seen, they generally only abuse themselves/each other
(~) has reserved slots, but i only know of 1 person that has actually received one (other than server owners)
(+) yeah, its the most recent version
also, it IS a public server, so you will find the occasional group of CO nublets or incompetent players. if that bothers you, feel free to go somewhere else and check back later (if you like the server otherwise)

Very good server, FF off, 18 slots, only NS_ maps, located in UK. Also a very good server, FF on, 18 slots, located in UK. Rotation is NS_ maps but they sometime put on a custom/fun map. Most of the time they ask players or make a vote before doing so. I think the only plugin they are running is the "award plugin", wich only shows in the RR anyway.
Both servers have good/fun/l33t people to play with, have good (but mad <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> ) admins, and have an admin on most of the time.

Awesome NS server, wondeful admins. Watch out for Eviscerator, Honey Bear, Goobag, Daos, Yeti and gang. One of the nicest people on NS.. evar.
