Return to the return of castle wolf!
There is a thread on PlanetWolfenstein concerning it.

QUOTE

In a feature on Doom 3 on Pulse (the G4Tech TV show), Todd Hollenshead confirmed that RTCW2 is in development at another studio. There was no mention of the engine it would be on, but i'm guessing the Doom 3 one will be most likely. This was posted over at the GameSpy forums, and a member from #planetdoom IRC on GameSurge who was watching Pulse said the announcement was correct.

This is 1 of the titles I'll be watching, RTCW on Doom 3 engine :o

If it's old news, then blah, I didn't know about it...

Mm, more Nazi zombie steampunk fun. Life can't get better.

Edit - Now I have to reinstall RtCW for a playthrough. DAMN YOU.

Sweet, more Nazi-killin'. You can never have enough. Any review for a game should add 1 extra point to the score if it has lots of opportunities to shoot Nazis in the face.

First time I've ever heard RtCW described as "steampunk". I think that's stretching the term a little .

    ...

Anyways, interesting to hear about this... I'd like to know where they're going with it. And, more to the point, whether the nazi zombie ninjas will actually make it in this time.

It'll also be interesting to see what this means for the Enemy Territory community, especially if RtCW 2's multiplayer gameplay turns out to be not as good. Might mean that we lose players to a worse game :/.

Okay. I guess I'm buying it.

Call of Duty in the Source engine would be a better WWII game, though.

tsk tsk tsk....they never said that it was RtCW 2. EVER. Go watch it again- they didn't say that. They said "Another RtCW project is going on now"- aka, could be another expansion pack, a full-game sidestory, OR the sequel. But its not DEFINATELY #2.

If it's an expansion there's no way in hell I'm buying that. Q3 engine sucks nowadays.

The games in the Wolfenstein series are not, nor were they ever supposed to be, WWII games. They are games about killing Nazi zombies that just happen to be set in WWII. I guess Enemy Territory could sort of qualify as a WWII game, but it's really much better described as a WWII-themed action movie game.

Um... Q3 is still a great engine... Years ahead of it's time.

No, not ahead of its time. It created its own time that all had to follow. But now Source, Doom 3 and Unreal Warfare are kicking around, and they offer a whole lot more to developers, if they can afford the price tag.

Opps. That's what I meant; Q3 was a great engine but these days there are much more advanced engines around.

That'd be pretty fsking retarded too. What, he forgot his money?

It'll probably be something similar.. I dunno.. But having it on the D3 engine.. *drools*

RTCW2? Can't wait! Too bad it's by a separate studio. Lets just hope they pick the right guys to do it. I'd hate to see it suffer from sequel-itis.

Some of the more cyborg heavy levels screamed steampunk at me. Perhaps my definition isn't so strict, hehe.

Why shoot people when you can BURN them? The flamethrower in RtCW is my personal fave of every one I've used. My only gripe is the effects on burning people. Baad shader.

I wonder what a RtCW sequel would be about. More of the mystical, or more of the technological? Recovered UFO technology from Tunguska? Nanites?

*shrug*. It'd make more sense if the levels actually had steam driven machinery in them, for a start

Well the LOOK is very steampunky, all you need to do is slap a smokestack onto half the monsters and you'd have no reason to complain. Its all very clunky and labourous.
