<div class="IPBDescription">Tell Me Your Driver Version, I Need Info</div> Morning all (9am-ish here)
I'm having some issues with XSI Softimage 3.5 for Half-Life 2.
(Read <a href='http://forum.softimage.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1958' target='_blank'>here</a> and <a href='http://forum.3dworldmag.com/viewtopic.php?t=3708' target='_blank'>here</a> if you info on that.)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT2: Second link has been updated to point directly to my topic
if you want to read about the problem i'm trying to solve.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm starting to think that these Catalyst 4.7's are the cause.
So I need any and all ATI users to <b>please please please</b>
list what drivers you are currently using and your personal thoughts
on them. (Do they screw up textures in Battlefield 1942, have you noticed
oddities in UT2004, so on.)
I'm currently searching through Google for driver reviews, comparisons,
bench-marks, that kinda thing but they all seemed alittle out of date.
If someone could direct me to the ATI Driver Uninstaller that was mentioned
on these forums a few days ago I would be most thankful.
(I'll probably hunt it down myself with the search function in work later
anyways so no worries if no-one has it to hand.)
EDIT: <a href='http://ati.com/support/drivers/misc/catalystutils.html' target='_blank'>Uninstaller = found.</a>
Thanks in advance guys, hopefully see you in on an Air Buccaneers server
tonight (where i'll be hunting down OttoDestruct for popping my balloon
yesterday!) , now get listing those driver's ye scally wags!

The only problem I've had is with Rise of Nations. It could be the game and not my drivers, but whenever I hit quit to go to the main menu after a multiplayer game, the game just freezes....other than that, everything seems fine. (other than my video card having uber crap FPS in HL compared to 20 dollar nvidia cards <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo--> )
Version before 4.7 works fine for all the above games.
Some people love em in a rather scary way, others hate
them in the same fashion. For this reason i'm going to have
to stick with official driver releases from ATI and as well as
the fact that XSI will probably tell me that "unofficial" drivers
aren't supported by their program.
At the moment i'm planned to use the Catalyst 4.3's as
they're what I had before the format a few days ago.
Keep the info coming guys, it's very interesting and I'll
try and keep the list of known issues (Thief 3 wall lighting
problems for example) documented.
EDIT: I typed this post and then was bumped offline before I could post then noticed your new one concerning the omegas after I posted, sorry <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Hehe - that's a good way of putting it.
What video card are you running? That *could* be contributing to your problem.
the entire card details when I get home. (In about 2 hours.)
While i'm at it i'll upload a DxDiag for that little bit more detail.
It seems to run everything else great, FarCry, UT2004, PainKiller etc.
I using version 6.14.10.5071
Sometimes XSI crashes on me, sometimes it loads up nicely but doesn't open scenes or make new scenes
the rotoscope. I've updated my first post to point to my 3D World
forum topic with much more details on that problem if you want
to read it.
Wait actually I can't play HotD2 anymore, but I hadn't tried that for a while so it could have been broken for ages...
Roll back to 4.4 for that. It's a known problem for ATI, but to the best of my knowledge not fixed yet. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Ladies and gentlemen.... thank you very much for your comments,
posts, opinions, information and attention.
ATI Catalyst Drivers version 4.3 have saved the day!
Everything is now working great and I can get back to learning
how to model things for Half-Life 2.
I used the uninstaller from the ATI site, shoved the 4.3's on,
launched XSI and it's working great!
I'd like to thank, *takes tatty piece of paper from pocket and
carefully unfolds it* "Lazy" from the 3D World forums for baring
with me and offering some nice advice, everyone who's posted
in this topic, the nice people at ATI for archieving their drivers
even though they're "unsupported", the weird bloke on holiday
who used to clap his hands together then swing the lamps above the bar
backwards and forwards and then scream "Bingo Bango!", and finally
the nice people in #nsbuccaneers for listening to me complain and
post /sysinfo into the channel :-D
See you in Air Buccaneers! Remember to launch X-Fire so we know to go!
Do we know if Thief 3's huge framerate drops in Caty versions greater than 4.4 has been resolved yet?
For some people it was a minor drop, for others it became completely unplayable.
