<div class="IPBDescription">A few bugs to iron out, but it's DONE</div> Ok, this is the secret room on my map... when finished, it'll contain pics of all my clanmates... nothing to special but eh...
I just wanted to know if you had any ideas on anything you might want int he room?
This is an image of the room and the button BEFORE I turned on the lights (I was using the flashlight)

this is AFTER I turn on the lights!
<img src='http://12.22.230.41/MicroTech/Hosted/Images/ns_zsecretroom0002.JPG' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
I appologize for the suky quality... but PAINT is the best program I have ATM for shrinking photos... anyone know a good free program to use? That's better than paint???

Software pixels sear my skull, begging for hardware texture and lighting facets. Unholy lighting reminds one of stale, crusted vomit. The walls are geometrical mockeries, decorated by random, migraine-inducing patterns. Writhing in agony, I ask myself why this subject has ironically revealed his "secret room" to the public domain. I am answered by callous silence; there is no logic to this madness.
In short, Captain, I do <b>not</b> like what you've done.
P.S. Paint Shop Pro is free and good for resizing images. Cheerio!
Now for the tough love bit:
It looks horrible. Mono-textured, lacks brushwork, lighting.
Basically it's so embryonic I doubt anyone could give you feedback directly relevant to it.
Seriously... you're not supposed to reveal hidden rooms, and software-mode makes my eyes bleed...

Wow. Its like Shakespeare if he played NS...
Anyways, I see a dramatic improvement in the textures and gamma. That "user posted image" (a red X for all you IE'ers) is <i>dead</i> sexeh.
Edit: well the pics showed up. I prefered the "user posted image". Dear lord I've never seen so many pixellated pixelly pixels. The room without the lights is MUCH better than with the lights. All I can say to the texturing is "oh dear lord my eyes they burn!" Using different textures for the wall/ceiling is a good thing, as is texture alignment on the thingies that arent the walls/ceiling (not sure what they are). That, and for all that is holy, turn off software rendering. That option should bloody well be baleeted from HL and NS entirely.
What I want to know is if I even REMOTELY worked the lighting right... nothing seriously wrong with that is there?
Honestly now.. thinkint that
A) this is software mode (OpenGl, but with paint fuckuping XD)
B) the finished texturing (it's a slap on job so as not to reveal it's real thing)
C) that this is the whole room <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
all I wanna know is if I did the lighting right (as I've NEVER done lighting before)
It's so bland it can't even be classed as lighting. Lighting a map consists of more than just vomiting a few light entities over a badly textured hollowed cube.
cause I used 4 different light sources... *bangs head on wall*
nice work jean luc picard.

It's the 'map' as a whole, not just the light entity.
and as for you Lt. Gravity... I dun want nice <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo--> I want the truth... only way to get better right?
BTW- ns_source is still a WIP right?
P.S - I think your the Vladiator guy who used to play on the Deadly Dozen Funhouse server huh?
I'm Vladiator aight <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
BTW- I 100% redid a bit of that room, I actually tried some good lighting, and added a laser of all things (dunno WHY, just felt like it!)
also, I need a good program to make wads... got any out there that are good freebies?
BTW- I just dl'ed gimp, and took some new screenies... I need help with the sprites I'm using... how do you get rid of the black boxes around em???
How are you compiling your sprites?
