    Bingo..

    When I pub, I'm open for anything.. not necessarily trying to win, but having a good time. As long as the game isn't drawn out too long it's often entertaining to see how pub players visualize this game. How commanders approach their strat and how individual players work or don't work together.

    Now as to the topic at hand. I disagree that a single rambo player can do that much damage. Either the aliens work around him, or attack in a slightly co-ordinated group (that level of teamwork is common even on the most basic pubs if there is an experienced player helping out) and wipe the single player out.

    Been a while since i posted <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    @ Vets:yes, discrimination towards vets is retarded especially FAT server, around 10/15 minutes ago a vet +icon just got banned in 1 MINUTE after he entered the server, the admins answer? :we dont whant hacking **** here...WTH?

    @ The cs player newbies: Ok you came from CS, we now know why your retarded.
    Redeem yourself, read a guide ask vets and try to be a team player.
    Dont use the aditude which CSers use like: (newbkills skulk) OMG HEADSHOT LOLOLOLOMFGLOL!!!11 that will get you banned quickly, or loved by other retards <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    @ The average newbies: noone hates you, ofcourse people might not like it when someone comes on their 0-9 losing streak alien team says im new and then proceed to beat the crap out of the rambo rines because of ambushing because you read these forums with good advice (hehe..lol)

    And if you just really get discriminated because your a Vet/newbie. i recommend you try The Terrible Gorges server (TTG FUNHOUSE) lots of siege maps (wich are A++) and their generally newbie friendly, also try looking for Lunixmonster their very helpfull to newbies and even let you comm IP = 69.93.5.186:27015 (Lunix)

    p.s:Dont do it on ns_hera, youll just get asswhupped lol

    And if you whant a newbie friendly CO server try looking for a CO 24/7 [LLJK] they might not be really newb friendly. but they are the funniest crowd in NS.

    I shall explain one of the reasons in a short simple manner: If an alien has no armour and regen and is shot by the odd stray bullet its armour will not regenerate thus keeping it out of combat until it goes to heal, if the amour overflows the aliens will be healing their armour also and be able to come back into the action as much as 6 times faster than before, ph33r. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    So what? If the alien has no armor then any serious damage is going to annihilate him anyway, so he's going to leave combat regardless. You act as if marines just follow Fades around and shoot individual bullets at them so they never get their armor back. That's ridiculous. 6 times faster than before? You just made that up, it doesn't mean anything. Realistically, an alien never wastes more than one or two ticks of regen because of the armor cutoff, and any intelligent alien is going to avoid taking damage until their armor comes back anyway since they're so vulnerable. When this does take effect, it will only give you about half a tick of armor anyway, which will disappear immediately if they're being shot at.

    first off... fixed the sp problem above... thanx

    secondly, it is the frustration that prodigy and altairian display which fuel the suggestion that the competitive players should generally stay away from pubs. It sucks, because that means you are vastly limited to where you CAN play the game in a fun way by time constraints on the player's part (do I have time to wait around until a good game gets going?) and on the other players' parts (when will enough people be around to get a good game going?). The exception to the rule is when you come into a pub with a mindset more aligned to Zunni's testimony.

    Unfortunately if you don't find much fun in doing that then you're just going to have to do the waiting game... because as you said, just joining random pubs and the subsequent bannings / flamings can get tedious and annoying. If you simply don't have the time then the only other option is to force yourself to become an incredibly skillless player somehow... like jumping off a cliff or running your head into some sharp edges or something.

    I myself faced this dillema years back when I was doing Quakeworld / Quake 2 competitive play. While playing competitively was undoubtedly challenging and fun, the time constraints determining when I could have that fun made me inevitably leave the competitive scene for good. It simply wasn't worth it... so I taught myself to not care. Now, while still margnally better than most players I meet in NS I never put myself in the position where I am considered "too good for my own good". I've only been banned or ridiculed a handful of times since leaving the competitive community and I can now pretty much have fun on any server I join. It boils down to personal priorities and community ethics/etiquette in the end.
