The Name is found, and 3D screenshots!
Okay, here it is.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory

And at Fileplanet, I saw these two 3D shots, both quite amazing, one of them showing a great light blur effect, the other the great bump mapping.

Though anyone agree with me that they seem to be just milking the gameplay style, and really need something big and new?

They need to take the sickening advertising out, it's pathetic. Also I really am not looking forward to this, two really emulated the first. But of course, why change something that is making money?!

True- and people, notice, I'm saying for the SP. PT's MP is great, just needs a bit of refining so its not so damned frustrating.

I do hope they've learnt that a strictly linear stealth game really isn't fun.

Truth to this man! Though, I'm the kind where I'd like to be put down far away from the site, with a map of the outside of the place(or if its strictly inside, a map of inside- note, both these maps are VERY basic, but as you go along, will become more and more filled out), and you can decide how to do it from there. Maybe get in a guard tower, kill the guy, take his gun, fix a silencer/scope on it, and start pickin people in key spots out, then going in, and making it so that in firefights you aren't totally worthless- but still not as good as the enemy(so 1 on 1 you would win, but more than 1 your REALLY riskin it- and thats for a good player).

I look at it this way:

Splinter Cell One: Amazing atmosphere and the right type of stealth gameplay that people were looking for. Oodles of fun.

Splinter Cell Two: Single player was exactly the same with a few different elements and different levels. Multiplay added an entire new dimension that expanded the game past the fun, but limited, single player.

Chaos Theory: Meh, same single player again. I don't mind, but people who do will get wonderful coop multiplay to contend with.

I've always like the series. Sam Fisher is one of the coolest game characters there is. I don't mind that the games are linear and kind of short: to me they've got more in common with a Tom Clancy book or movie than with other video games.

All of you who have posted before me are forgetting something shown to us in a previously-released shakycam video from a game convention.

The "Big and New" thing in Splinter Cell 3 is co-op. Co-op in Splinter Cell. This is an event well worthy of various expletives in the style of the writers of Penny-Arcade when they approve of something.

Co-Op? So what. I'm sorry, but when the gameplay is as linear as is is, Co-Op don't work. Though if its gonna with this one, the Linearity is gonna have to go.

Sadly, its also going with the Multiplayer mode.

Well, they created something special specifically for multiplayer, why wouldn't they put the same effort into making sure co-op works? From what I've seen, the developer is far from clueless as to what makes a game work and what doesn't.

I do believe I have just soiled my pants.

That's probably the coolest co-op gaming I can even begin to think of.

i agree, co-op splitercell. Yum Yum!

As for splinter cell 3 they must be very early alpha's or beta's because i dont think that them shots looked very good. That could just be down to bad compression, but still they didnt seem all that detailed.

The most recent Game Informer had a bit about SC3. One thing they showed was a pair of screenshots of Sam approaching a terrorist on lookout in a guard tower. In the first shot, Sam was sneaking up behind him, knife ready. In the second, Sam had scaled the wall of the tower and was about to grab the guard and pull him over the side to his death.

The point that the two shots were making is that they're working on providing multiple paths and ways of accomplishing objectives within a level. So here's crossed fingers!!

PC Gamer UK had a big ol' article on it. My favourite set of screens showed Sam approaching an enemy who was on the other side of a plastic curtain of some sort. In order to take the guy down, Sam takes out his knife, cuts a vertical gash in the translucent material and then slips quietly through the new hole and creeps up behind the unfortunate fellow.

If you ask me, that's damned cool.
