Bittorrent Makes Me Angry.

So does my router...
No matter what I do to try and get better DL speeds off BT, I just can't. I have forwarded all the BT ports. I have set my machine up as DMZ. Still, I am not able to receive any incoming connections. I have tryed several clients. (Burst, Bit Tornado, Azureus...) Still, same deal.

In Azureus and Bit Tornado they both have status icons that show how your connection is. In both, it tells me I havn't made any incoming connections, and therefor I download slowly. I've tryed various other torrents too. I have tryed game trailors, Linux iso's etc. I can't get good speeds. Currently, I top out at about 25kbps on torrents with several hundred seaders...

Anyway, I have Cable internet and have a good down connection (about 2mbps according to dslreports).

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Holy crap, you have my router. Is yours made by Belkin? If it is, we should all go sue the company into oblivion.

    For D-Link routers : http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod...neral%20Routers
The same ports apply for other routers as well.

That must be a D-Link thing... I have a Linksys router. Wireless BTW, if that matters.

have you tried it from the bit-torrent options? try opening port 81, and disable your firewall settings, maybe that'll work?

Both my routers are belkin, my modem is a non branded DSL modem. Im not in the DMZ, im behind the 2 belkin hardware firewalls and the modem firewall. I have no problems with bit torrent with no changes to the standard setup.

Meh, That's nice... It don't help tho...

Hmmm....that's funny, it should be running a bit more quickly....

Tried resetting your net connection from the router? Could be that. Last time, I did the same as you did, but I always got the yellow connections.

In the end, I ended up reconnecting my internet, and it works like a charm (albeit being effing slower than a snail in terms of game latency)

My peak was about....170kb/s when I did that.

Hopefully this solution works. If not, could be your ISP. You never know what they do in there unless you work there :/

I know this is of little help but why not just run mutiply torrents of diffrent things? the idea being you are downloading more using up your full bandwidth.

Of course this is no use if you are doing a single download lol

    Well I'll be...

Unplugging my router seemed to do the trick... I have a green connection now... How long ago did I post the inital complaint? Goes to showw how slow I was getting.

:edit: 6hrs gone by. Started a good 12 hours before that...

I assume you plugged the router back in... or am I missing something here?

You should not use the default bittorrent ports. Some isps throttle those, making your downloads extra slow.

Pick a range of about 100 ports between 20000 and 50000 (or more, but I'm not sure where the max is). Everyone should use different ports. Set the router to forward them, and your client to use them (it's easy with bittornado, which I use).

i forwarded 6881-6999 and its up at like 60kb/s now

Im just considering that maybe its nothing to do with your router. Could your ISP be filtering out the ports?
