[tut] Adding Heavy Arms

This tutorial is going to use the hands/bones from suishi's compact morita, which is posted below.

1) Build your model using the hands/bones from the attached files, this will make it really easy to make heavy hands.

2) Now that you finished your model, go back to the ref file. Delete the light armor hands, but leave the skeleton there.

3) Import the heavy armor triangles only from the rar.

4) adjust hands to fit onto the skeleton, should go on really easy because their layed out straight.

5) Save as seperate ref, and your done.

In short: delete old hands, import new ones, save. The bones are the same so they are already assigned and your heavy model should look fine if you positioned it right.

If you need more bones for your gun, feel free as it should not mess up the hands at all.

So this is for converting light-armour (or non-ns) hands to heavy-armour hands? If so good job been wanting to add some ha hands to some certain lmgs for ages.
    And its for milkshape?

Damn milkshape won't work for me :'(

hm.. but I noticed 5ive doing something special on his M60:

Kept the LA hands and just "strapped" the HA hands on them.... so it are still the same animations of the CS model... How do you do something like that? (w/o reassigning the hands to the bones )

I usually just put on the HA armor plate onto the LA hands. Then I modify the skinmap of the hand in Unwrap so it fits the HA glove skin.

I guess that is slightly the same

Actualy the hand/bone assignments are the same on just about all heavy/light armor hands. The only prob is usualy people wana bend the hands to fit onto their gun BEFORE they animate, so you cant just simply move the hands into position.

And again, its is for when you completely redo a model or create a new one or reanimate it with these bones yada yada.

Step 4 confuses the hell out of me, but maybe that's because my milkshape skills can be considered to be practically null...
can anyone briefly go over what's involved in step 4 to get me kickstarted, while i go find me some tutorials?

*edit* it turns out what i was doing wrong was deleting the hand skeleton too instead of just the arms....so now it seems to work fine! just fine tuning the positioning now...

Well, for anyone who gets confused, i mean just delete the faces, not the skeleton, and import the heavy hands. THEN just move the hands over the bones. Or you can import the heavy hands, and line them up with the light hands so they fit right, then delete the light hands. No assigning required
