<div class="IPBDescription">That doesn't suck....</div> Somebody recommend me some programs to stop crap getting on my PC constantly

1.) Firewall
2.) Adware Blocker/Scanner
3.) Antivirus

I just keep getting frustated because one or two of these buggers slips through the cracks and causes me all kinds of troubles later on...

I format every 1-2 months just to get a clean system to start with again >_<

    <a href='http://security.kolla.de/' target='_blank'>Spybot S&D</a> and <a href='http://www.lavasoftusa.com/' target='_blank'>Adaware</a> for your spyware/adware scanners. Use them in tandem.

    <a href='http://www.grisoft.com/' target='_blank'>AVG antivirus personal</a> if you want free virus protection, otherwise, <a href='http://www.antivirus.com/' target='_blank'>Trend Micro's</a> PC-Cillin is always a good bet.

    As for firewall programs...never found one other than <a href='http://www.zonelabs.com/' target='_blank'>Zonealarm</a>.

    Those are what I've used or am currently using. Most are fine, but I want a replacement for zonealarm...not too fond of it.

    In addition to Spybot + AdAware, I use SpywareBlaster. There's a link in Spybot. It's helped cut down on the amount of incoming spyware. [<a href='http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/' target='_blank'>link</a>]

    I use Sygate instead of Zonealarm. Thank Talesin for that one, since I only found it since he mentioned it in Off-Topic once.

    Yep Sygate is what I use for my firewall needs... I've tested the other well known alternatives but I like that one best.

    yup Sygate, free and amazing! NO POP UP CRAP! like zone alarm that does my head in.

    tbh i just scan online for viruses.

    or if u cba with a software firewall, get a router with NIC (Netgear DM602) i have one of em! nice piece of kit but steam doesnt like it much (gives me a 2000ping wen i search for servers via steam, but most people with a router get the same prob)

    <a href='http://www.kerio.com/us/kpf_download.html' target='_blank'>Kerio Personal Firewall</a> is nice if you know what you're doing. For spyware I just use good ol' Spybot and Ad-Aware.

    If you believe me or not, I haven't gotten one single bug in long months.

    I'm behind a firewall (and with firewall, I mean a real firewall, not that software crap, which doesn't help at all) - Vigor router and the SpyBot Search & Destroy.

    Good luck. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    EDIT: *slaps forehead* And forgot. Proxomitron. All your pop-up and script (and sometimes bugs) problems - gone.

    "Norton Anti-Virus+Internet Security 2k4" and Ad-Aware has blocked everything I've thrown at it. (And I've thrown alot) <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->.
