Can't Set Keys!

For some reason my keyboard settings are totally messed up when I try to play NS. At first it would let me to actually set the keys, but still be really buggy. I would for example jump when I strafed left or right and next weapon button did nothing. I checked that I had not tied two functions to one button and it still did this.
Then I decided to clear all buttons and try to set my buttons again. Lo and behold, now it won't let me set anything! I click on the "edit key" button and press they key I want, but the line remains blank!
