Personally I think this looks great. The animation on the "Robot's"
alone has conviced me to slap a "MUST-SEE" sticker on my Calender.
Just a quick note to the readers of 3D World magazine.... those robots
look quite similar to the concept art pictures that came with the last issue.
(The issue with the XSI Character tutorial video on the disc.)

It's not out yet so no profit has been made :-P
(It might be out in the States but it's a good 2/3 weeks
before it hits the UK.... as the UK sucks and we get everything last.)
Established title? I'll be honest here, today is the first time
i'd heard of "I,Robot". And so far the only thing similar that
i've come across is "I-Ninja" but I think thats an X-Box title.
Can you tell me alittle more? I'm interested and want to see
if there's a connection anywhere.

Only one of the most famous stories from Isaac Asimov?

I believe the film is based on a book.
and it rocked.
This is on my 'to see' list

Argggghhhh...
Wait a second here..... No it doesn't! This film should've been Minority Report but instead its going to be Paycheck.

What he said.
Did they even BOTHER to read the book first, or did he read the receipt of another book left by a man in a trashcan who had once seen the poster of the cover of I, Robot, the book?

So the film isn't based on the book, it just takes the basic idea from it (like.... Running Man. The book is so much better in one way, but would have made a boring film most likely).
I can't quote the source because, like most of my knowledge, this is from something i read on a forum somewhere or other (IMDB?). It may be false.... but it's only a title. If the title upsets you that much, close your eyes while walking into the theatre and keep them shut until the opening credits are over, then enjoy the movie.

We call that 'cashing in on a name'.
You are a shallow man.

I agree with that, it's just cashing in. But the way some fans of the book are acting, it's as if the director has defiled the book in many, many ways that are both illegal and sins in the face of 50 Gods. It just annoys me. Like the people who think LOTR films were ruined because of the joking that goes on between Legolas and Gimili (it doesn't in the books but makes their relationship seem stronger).
(Hey MODs - Can we do that?)
I honestly thought this trailer looked pretty good
MODS: Feel free to send my topic to "the land that
forums forgot" as soon as the clock strikes 8pm (GMT).
That gives alittle more time for people to get the link
to the trailer.
The past 2-3 movies I have gotten to see, have been dull, and lacks a solid storyline.
Steppord Wives (I had to go with my cousin she just came in town ugh)
Around the world in 80 Days ( You just know whats gonna happen)
The Terminal ( was actually good, but predictable sometimes, and BAD camerawork)
Hopefully it will be one of the good ones with eye catching mind boggling plots.
Last good movie I saw was Chronicles of Riddick.

do they go around the world in 80 days by any chance?
Well, there's a few major differences. Peter Jackson managed to admirably keep the spirit of the books alive on the screen. He did not cash in on Tolkiens expense, he created a valid interpretation of the Lord of the Rings and transported it into the movies.
'I, Robot', the book, is (and I'm partly talking out of backwards-oriented orifices here because Asimovs works are still on my 'to read' list) a work about the questions of free will, of security, of the conflict between individual and societal benefit. It is not an action thriller or something comparable.
Had the producers decided to say "Well, Will refused the role of Neo in Matrix. Let's give him an opportunity at correcting his ways." and did not try to give the impression of being an adaption of Asimovs story, everyone would be happy, hell many would congratulate them for referencing one of the best sci-fi authors of all time in their high-quality action flick.
The way it is now, people will get out of this movie and think - provided they read the 'based on a novel by' line - that they just saw a theatrical version of Asimovs book. They will be fooled, and Asimovs memory will be faulted. I am not particularily fond of either.

I'm crying right now, and every tear is a tiny robot and every tiny robot is crying and is on fire, and I am on fire also.
It may turn out to be one of the best movies of all time (unlikely but it might) it just happens to have an inappropriate title, that's all. And to be quite honest, i'm fed up of people completely tearing a film down they haven't seen, just because of it's title (go read the forums on IMDB, it's amazing how much hate is directed towards the director because of it's title). If it was called "Robots Go Nutz" no one would have a problem.
And, i've never read the books so correct me if i'm wrong, the stories are ways of robots getting around the three laws and then self-destructing because of it (one robot is ordered to put poison in a drink, and another robot serves it unknowingly to a human. Both contributed to death, but neither broke any of the three laws) etc, which while may make great reading, probably wouldn't be too good of a transferal to screen.
Anyway, in short: It's just a title.

Yeah, it's one of the first things they say in the book- the conflict with law1. Even orders made with the uttermost importance are still bound by it- as shown with the robot that was told to "lose himself" in "I, Robot" the book.
