<div class="IPBDescription">I dunno why you would =p</div> Security experts have uncovered a serious loophole in Microsoft's Internet Explorer web-browser, it has even been recommended by some that users utilise other web-browsers until this exploit is fixed.
Cert said: "Users should be aware that any website, even those that may be trusted by the user, may be affected by this activity and thus contain potentially malicious code."
In its round-up of the threat the Internet Storm Center bluntly stated that users should if possible "use a browser other then MS Internet Explorer until the current vulnerabilities in MSIE are patched."
Antivirus firms are presently working on definitions for the exploit. Further information can be found from the source link below.

I am aware, but I like it better.
No issues with browsing msdn.com with Firwfox 0.9
Same here.
Uh... care to explain why you consider Opera worse than IE ? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Opera 7.5 has everything a netsurfer can dream of. Semi-automatic login + password entry , a fully customizable interface , a large variety of skins , customizable mouse gestures for common tasks (back/next , reload/stop , new page/close page , ect) , clear yet detailed menus , privacy management (detailed list of cookies , passwords , and cached documents) , built in popup blocker , and even a fake identification ability (to read thoses sites that require IE or a certain Mozilla version)
That's for the advertising part. On to the IE bashing :
-poor security , loopholes are found every other week.
-overly annoying popups , you need to install a specialized popup blocker to get rid of them.
-crappy display bugs , pages that have a perfectly fine html code look borked sometimes (unique to IE)
-each new page requires a new window (at least IE5-6)
-poor , limited interface.
I have to admit , IE is good for browsing sado-masochist sites <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Why? you like to have dialers installed? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
MyIE2 remembers passwords, it's got mouse gestures that are highly customizable (I'm not sure if it's moreso than Opera, but you can set mouse gestures for lots of stuff). MyIE2 has the privacy management you mentioned, a built in pop-up and ad blocker (Though I prefer a third-party one that I'm using), and I can set Ad Muncher do falsely identify my browser if I have to.
The only software I want skins for is Trillian. Even then, I don't really like it. I'd prefer to leave the skinning up to the OS, not the program. Skins in MyIE2 are optional, and I can adjust the toolbars exactly how I want them.
As for the IE flaws you mentioned:
- If you use common sense and the proper security settings, it's not a problem.
- MyIE2 has a pop-up and ad blocker, but I use a third-party one anyway.
- All the sites I visit look fine in my browser. If I encounter a site that doesn't display properly, I've still got FireFox installed.
- MyIE2 has tabbed browsing.
- MyIE2 improves the interface tons.
I wasn't talking about plain old Internet Explorer, like it seems you thought I was. I was talking about a browser running around the IE engine. <a href='http://www.myie2.com' target='_blank'>MyIE2</a>. And apparently, you can use the Mozilla engine in MyIE2 as well. (How, version91x? I haven't seen an option for it.)
- Installing opera to block popups is obviously more complicated than getting the google toolbar to do it. And google toolbar has the easiest interface possible for *letting* a site give you popups.
- I know that IE has flaws, but seeing as how I have a lifetime track record of 0 viruses or related phenomena, I really don't care.
- I see more sites that are borked when using opera, than using IE. I know that IE varies slightly from *standard* html. But the stone cold truth is that if the anti-standard is more widely accepted, then just go with the flow.
- No ads in IE.
- I don't even have to install anything to get IE working.
and IE6 shall continue to do so.
Getting rid of dialrs/spyware etc. give me something to <i>do</i> when i'm bored.
And Firefox/Opera looks fugly

Finally someone has set us all straight.
Sorry to burst your bubble: While IE doesn't delete your favorites, it WILL and DOES delete toolbar configurations, quite commonly. Which for some odd reason will switch things around to the exact places that will force you to make long steps to not hurt something.
So how many of you are using internet explorer?
