Metal Gear Acid

Urge to kill... rising...
So I'm poking through some magazines at work the other day (I work at Gamestop), and I come across an article about Metal Gear Acid. "That's cool," I think, "another Metal Gear is always good. Hey, what are those little things on the screenshots that look... like... playing cards?"

I read the article. I cry. I scream aloud in anger. METAL GEAR ACID IS USING A CARD-BASED COMBAT SYSTEM. WHY GOD WHY!

I mean seriously, if you want to screw the series over, why not just replace Snake with a little sissy boy in a highly anticipated sequel? Oh, wait. Never mind. If you need me, I'll be over in the corner waiting and hoping they don't screw up MGS 3, for the sake of all that is holy.

Did you check if it was an April issue?

Did you check if it is titled "The National Enquirer"?

For a sec there I thought you used a picture. Hmm maybe those jokes?

Definitely not a prank, guys. It's in both Game Informer and EGM, Acid (or Ac!d as it seems to be named, sigh) will not be an action game.

So this is a card game thing? Well maybe if they take out metal gear in the name it would be ok.

I am guessing it's something like. Imagines: Card: ammo. Use this card for ammo for your gun. Card: gun put this card in equipment for usages. Card:movment use this allows you to move. Card: Sneak attack something like that?

I see a Card RPG. Notice the evade crap and stuff.

Oh now I can imagine it now. You run around. You run into enemeys and boom battle. Something like Card: "Sneak attack" gives 50% chance when moving to an enemy from behind to attack from behind. Card: "Use ration" this card, when use, will restore 30% health. Once used, this card will disappear.

It looks like some turn based....thing.

Then again, it might be like Sonic Battle in some weird way (not that the game was all that good...but it wasn't exactly terrible.)

The trailer doesn't really show too much about it.

Well i don't really know much about it but I read somewhere that it was aimed at being popular in Japan
I don't think MGS has really been very popular in Japan, its been more popular in the west so this is for Japan
Anyway MGS3 isn't going to be card based so just get that if you dont like cards

Wow this was announced at E3, a little slow aren't we? Anyway yea..... this does not bode well for the snake.

Hey, at least it isn't PSO3's card system.
  • VenmochVenmoch Join Date: 2002-08-07 Member: 1093Members
To be honest it looks more like a strategy game than anything.

In fact it looks like fun....

Actually, I was thinking about saying that. I looked at pictures and it actually did sound like a pretty neat idea. It really makes Snake seem even more bad-**** (I'm guessing one card is "snap neck"). Plus, it's a nice change.

    I mean cards... CARDS!!!

What's next? A mario-kart style game based on splinter cell where you race terrorists... in the dark? How about a first-person shooter based on RISK? Or perhaps Unreal 2004- Dance-dance revolution edition.

Ironically all of the above sound more plausible than a card-based MGS game, and yes, I may have ripped one of the ideas from penny arcade but it seemed to fit my point nicely.

I think the gaming industry really IS going downhill. This is why.

Maby it's just me, but I think front mission style tactics gameplay should be left to giant mechs named wanzers and little guys with swords that can summon things.

Hahaha, that's a knee slapper. I'm glad they did it. Guess the DS doesn't have much competition after all.
