I suspect that is what was lagging the Ultraboard system.

This will look <b>so</b> lush once the customized buttons are added.

Even with all the posts and atachements I pretty sure this IB bord should run faster than the old one.

Actually, if you go visit the <a href="http://66.70.175.88/cgi-bin/UltraBoard/UltraBoard.cgi" target="_blank">Old Forums</a> right now, you'll find that they are still slow as frozen molasses. The problem performance on these boards isn't usually the ammount of data (there isn't all that much , compared to a business system with million of rows); it's the hardware, circuit, and backend tuning.

Well, the old server was less powerful, shared by many more websites than just NS, and was on a super slow circuit. It also used a backend database we couldn't really tune or control. So we couldn't reindex data, compress, or archive anything. Pretty gross. Many HUGE forums operate in a similar configuration as us - consider CS. We will be nice and fast for years to come, trust me. When I'm not pimping NS, I'm building computer networks.
