Has anyone else heard about this? This seems to be the only source I can find, and I did that completely by accident. Almost makes me wonder if this is not real.

well what does this stand for half life2? will it still be produced by sierra valve? or will someone else take it in their hands with their patents?

I don't think Sierra ever had anything to do with Half-Life 2.

Well the Sierra website is still active... Either way this wont have any effect on HL2 because I remember from the time around the first annoucments they spoke of VU publishing it because of them buying out Sierra or somesuch.

It's just a job cut. Vivendi are a multi-billion dollar corporation, they will still be publishing HL2.

Yeah, Vivendi just laid off like 350 people, but Tribes Vengeance is still in works, so...

    It says...

"The Sierra brand will live on in name only and projects tied to the Sierra pipeline, Half-Life 2, Ground Control II and Tribes: Vengeance are already being developed by other teams within Vivendi."

So they'll still be the ones that the game will say it was published by...

But, but, Sierra is my friend! They screwed Dynamix over, and for that they can burn in the deepest depths of Hades, but SIERRA! They publish good games! GOOD GAMES! Not like, mediocre games. GOOD.

I miss j00 Sierra employees. Now you know how Dynamix felt, though.

How could this happened while they had such great games?
Easy, they got kinda outsold by companies like EA which bring out every year tons of sports titles with 1-2 changes from the last version. Hell thats rediculous, they should bring out those games every 2nd year, and offer yearly a free updates for the up-to-date seasons. Who am i kidding... i was talking about EA

I still don't really understand why Sierra stopped making adventure games and instead started distributing games made by other game companies.
