<div class="IPBDescription">OMG HL2 MOD</div> Hello, and welcome! <a href='http://terminus-discord.com' target='_blank'>Terminus Discord</a> is currently recruiting for any and all positions that are unfilled. There is much preliminary preperation to be done, but once the Half-Life 2 SDK is released work will begin in earnest.
To sum it up in one poorly formed sentence.
Terminus Discord is a third-person medieval melee deathmatch multiplayer MOD for HL2.
The 'gimic' if you will is that your weapon is controlled by your mouse movements. Theoretically, it should be possible to write your name with your weapon. (As some people have already asked me, your mouse only controls your weapon when the LMB is held).
We are currently looking for people to fill the following jobs:
<b>Coders:</b> We are looking for anyone who is experienced in coding C++. You should have a familiarity with game production or game modification. Any prior work would be hot.
<b><span style='color:red'>PRIORITY</span> Modellers/Skinners/Animators:</b> Terminus Discord is going to have a large amount of 3d content. We need skinners that can handle a large load and are able to coordinate their efforts to produce a coherent art style. Animators will be very important; we are looking for animators in particular that have experience with character animation. Modelling positions are also open.
<b>Graphic/2d Artists:</b> In addition to the sizable amount of 3d models, Terminus Discord requires 2d art in the form of Graphical User Interfaces, Menus, and anything else. Texturing experience is a plus but not required.
<b>To apply:</b> send an email to <span style='color:white'>positions@terminus-discord.com</span> . Examples of work can be attached or linked to.
If you have any questions that aren't answered by our FAQ, just ask them in here. I'll be more than happy to answer them.

Any kind of theme? Idea of story-ish lines? Gameplay dynamics?
Mouse controled aiming and keyboard controlled movement.
I think Liku may remember it.

There's an arcade game like that, kinda like Time Crisis or Virtua Cop, only you have a sword hilt and you can wave it about, and the sword on the screen moves. It rocks. Although you can just wave the sword idley side to side and slaughter thousands.
My current project is documented in the artwork forums <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=73675' target='_blank'>here.</a>
There are many many ways to make models for Half-Life 2, most or all of which are already released. Mapping can't be done yet, but a familiarity with Hammer (Mouse made hydrosity :o ) should help. Of course, you can't do much coding until you have the SDK, but the most important part, making sure the game is going to be fun, can be thought out before HL2 gets stolen 4 more times.
And if anyone's wondering, Mouse stole his first post directly from me <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
The sooner we can get all the 3D (and related 2D) work out of the way, the better.
As for help, I couldn't do anything except for making you High Poly circles in milkshape for models, so if you need any circles which need no skinning give me a ring ^_^.
Also, do you have any of the storyline figured out yet or is it just the basic core concept as of now?

It wasn't the HL Engine, it was it's own engine I believe. He's talking about Trespasser.
Will look forward to reading up when he's done with it.
...as much as I'd love to offer my services, I've got a nasty feeling that I won't be able to put in as much time as you guys'd like.
<span style='font-size:6pt;line-height:100%'>(oh well, maybe next mod)</span>
Will there be any rabbits with waistcoats? Badgers with guns? Bulls in china shops?
Sounds like a cool idea btw, have you thought about a B&W style special move system where, while you can move your weapon with the mouse, if you move it in a certain way then you'll follow up with extra moves/more damage etc.
It also occurred to me that you might want to exaggerate the movements for the smaller, faster weapons. I say that because everyone knows that a rapier is much faster than a broadsword but you can only move your mouse the same speed for either one. In fact because the broadsword is a lot longer, if both weapons get moved the same speed then the tip of the broadsword will be going much faster than the rapier! Obviously not right.
I don't know if those are the kind of weapons you'll have in the game but I presume you can see my point.
Finally, could you put some kind of morningstar weapon in? Something on the end of a chain anyway. Would be really cool moving your mouse around to get the momentum, add a lot of skill in to the game and be really fun as well.
I will be a graphic/2d artist i have been doing graphic and 3d portraits for awhile now if u need me to show uyou an example just ask.
for the texture part i am still in the learning procces of how to skin mesh then texture it.
