Helicopter Versus Car

Man I love Top Gear. They also tested the "Talon Riot Control Vehicle" by smashing it through a Porta Cabin <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
It's a .wmv, coil, upgrade to WMP9.
Just a bit of light humour. It <i>is</i> a British motor show mate. Deal with it.
That got me thinking though. Why get a British pilot to fly an American helicopter? Does the RAF use Apaches? Never noticed.

I didn't think they did, but Americans use the Harrier, so who knows.
The word "America" or "Americans" was used 4 times in the entire 9 minute video. 2 of those instances was to explain to move it to America they had to change the engine to fit American laws, so theres 2 instances of the word already. One was saying the American apache had a soft underbelly (not sure if this is true) and the other was a non-PC joke, which is actually true.
Now please show me the racism in that.
On a on-topic note, that was sweet. Will have to show that to a friend of mine. Anyone see them testing out the Mercades-Maclaren?
Anyway, I wasn't too awful impressed. Since when does having a spoiler actually produce downforce warrent a special notation? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
(as you may recall, A BMW took out a helicopter in the film <u>Ticker</u>, downloadable <a href='http://www.bmwfilms.com/clap.asp?template=international&country=&film=' target='_blank'>here</a>)
Bit of an overstatement I think.
Loved how they had to show the military actually coming out on top at the end, or that would have been, how should I put this, disgraceful.

Car manages to evade missile lock for an entire lap.

He said "shoot their allies". There were a lot of friendly fire incidents in Iraq by the Americans when the war started.
Yes, the british use apaches
Keep it on topic guys. I don't want to hear any more talk about country bashing on either side.
Oh, and Jeremy Clarkson is known for his non pc-ness. Deal with it <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Air vectoring owns the roads, this thing can turn on a dime, macross zero style .... (lets see if anyone gets this one)
"Holy crap, I bet that becomes the next James Bond car!"
Cuz, come on. A car that can dodge a missle lock-on? If that's not Bond-worthy, I don't know what is.
Oh, and the best part was when he tried hiding underneath it...I actually laughed out loud for a good while.

Yes...he dodged a missile lock...when the helicopter was doing the exactly opposite thing it was supposed to do. The Apache isn't designed to chase a small fast object from directly behind it and hit it with a missile. It was designed to attack from miles away with its missiles. It's like sniping someone who's running around you in circles. It's not supposed to work like that. I don't find it that damn impressive, to be honest.
Besides, if the pilot really had to destroy the car in one lap, he could do it easily. He said so himself, he'd just open up with the nose-mounted gun. Bye bye Bond.
As for hiding underneath the helicopter...yes that was funneh. Even funnier when the downdraft from the rotor blew the car out from underneath the helicopter. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Top Gear rocks
Yes it is real, but that heli could destroy that car by just strafing it with the nose gun.
They also have a habit of destroying cheap cars.
Playing darts with a compressed air launcher and massive painted target anyone?
Playing skittles with Cars?
Dropping a caravan from a crane?
and jeremy clarkson is funneh
