Ati Catalyst Drivers And Smargart
<div class="IPBDescription">Leave my AGP alone</div> I've got an ATI 9800 Pro running the newest Catalyst drivers and something is annoying me. <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I didn't even know about it until I got the Ground Control 2 MP demo, but my AGP acceleration is turned off, all the time. So I nosed around advanced display properties and saw this SmarGart dealie. Apparently it adjusts your AGP acceleration to levels that keep your system stable. I guess, stable, in my case, means no AGP. I can turn it back on to 8X if I want to, but that only lasts a short period of time. Within a couple hours it's back to off.
Anyone have a clue as to why this is happening?

How do I go about doing this?
If necessary, slow it down to AGP 4X or whatever - things might run a lot more smoothly and reliably.
I think my next PC will be one that's completely simulated in Bochs... Hardware stinks.
To fix it, update your motherboard drivers.
