When I first read this, I thought the link would be to a joke page, so I didn't even click. I just came back from driving somewhere in the car, and I heard about it on NPR (national public radio).
This scares me.
No, really, it does. It makes me feel as if either McCain, Bush, or both know something that the rest of us don't. And as likely as this is, at least until this happened it wasn't something at the forefront of my mind when thinking of either polititian.

Umm WTH?
I mean I support Bush and I hope this helps him...but wow...
I had just recently watched McCain as a guest on the Daily Show, he seemed to support Kerry more then Bush, although he remained pretty much in the middle. Guess this explains why he refused to be Kerry's VP.
/Crazy mode: What if he replaces Cheney as Bush's VP?
Well you know McCain is thinking "McCain 2008" ... and for diehard Bush supporters Bush/McCain 2004 wouldn't matter and for people who could be swayed it would enhance their chances of voting Bush. Not that Bush/McCain is a very likely scenario. I think this is an intelligent political move on both of their parts.
Edit: of course it would have to be McCain/(Jeb)Bush 2008 haha.

Not that I would miss Al Franken that much...
On a serious note I think this is going to move allot of swing voters over to Bush?s camp seeing as McCain has allot of hardcore followers, and is most definitely one of the most liked politicians in the country.
McCain is a Republican, so it is expected that he make nice and campaign for that party's candidate. In American politics, about the most ringing endorsement he can have for his pal Kerry is the fact that he won't attack him-- and, of course, he actually defends him on the security issue-- that's huge enough.
I mean, the McCain-Kerry . . *ahem* . . . KERRY-McCain ticket was a sweet, sweet pipe dream, but there's no way McCain would have been able to join it and remain a member of his party. And much as the Democrats would love him to cross the lines, he isn't a Democrat-- he's just a very moderate, principled Conservative.
However, I think the 'Bush-McCain' ticket people are fooling themselves as much as the McCain-Kerr-- er, the Kerry-McCain people-- were (Yes, for a time I certainly fell in love with that idea). Make no mistake, there is no love lost between these two, and Bush's team completely slimed him (most notably in SC), so I doubt that there will be much cooperation beyond this.
After all, as much rumbling as there is in the background about the Clintons trying to sway Kerry's VP choice towards someone who won't hamper Hillary's efforts to run in 2008 (And here I'm looking at you, Mr. Edwards), Bush won't want someone who a) outshines him and b) will stand in Jeb's way in 2008. So I think the McCain/Giuliani VP rumors are just that: rumors. Cheney is precisely the sort of man they want, and the only way they'd dump him would be out of sheer desperation, if they were convinced that they would otherwise lose badly.
Though, for one shining moment I though Hastert was going to ostracize McCain and the Independent vote in one fell swoop, but alas . . .

The swinging voters might have a lot less issues voting for a Bush/McCain team than the Bush/**** party. (swear filter blocks Cheney's media first name here)
Not that I'd want Bush to win, but I would consider that one to be a step towards being re-elected.

that one came out of left field for me, I sure didn't expect it
