<div class="IPBDescription">Best Methods For Advertising A Site?</div> Good evening all,
Some of you may remember that a few days ago
I <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=73086&hl=' target='_blank'>requested some help on PHP.</a>
I'm in the process of helping a friend with 2 websites.
Adding products, sorting out orders, sending newsletters etc.
(Sites listed at bottom of post)
It turns out that a vast knowledge of the PHP language wasn't needed
and i've found that adding products to the site is pretty easy.
I've added around 100 items and updated a fair few.
Now the key problem we're having is site traffic. I know the site
is still very very new and these things take time. But we want to
generate alittle interest so we can get a bit of feedback and see
what the visitors want so we can cater to their needs.
Things we've done so far:
Altered my signature on various forums.
Submitted to several companies that submit the sites
to banner exchanges and search engines.
And by far the most controversial.... a trial mass mail. My friend
decided to buy a CD containing 101 million email addresses from eBay.
The first thing I did when it arrived was complained that it was spam
and I don't like spam. Then I checked the addresses to see if any
of mine were in there.... they weren't (phew).
After alittle while we had the Mass Mailer, included with the CD,
set-up and ready to fire off some emails. We decided to send a short
sweet promo email to the first batch of addresses.
Now the first thing I send to my friend before htting the "SEND" button
was, "you do realise that there's a high chance that these will simply
bounce back and you'll have to sit there deleting the returned mails?".
He understood fine and off the emails went.....
He spent around 4 hours today deleting 22,000 emails from
"User Not Found" , "Mailer Daemon" and so on.
(The original batch was 99,000 but I halted the sending process
to launch Thunderbird and check how many returns we had.)
I sent up a mail filter on Mozilla's Thunderbird to get rid of these
but they only seem to go to the "TRASH" can and still have to be removed.
So after some persuasion he's decided to not to join the Spam Army Masses
and advertise properly. But <b>how</b> ?
We need idea's, preferably from people how have experience in this field.
In total we're running 2 websites, but due to forum rules
I can only link to one of them.

If you'd like to visit the other (Adult Content, you have been warned) then
feel free to PM me.

Lots of up-coming new releases and special offers, Etc
If you order something then please make sure your systems are PAL
because of NTSC -> PAL compatibility problems.
