<div class="IPBDescription">hairs going grey, lost will to live...</div> Because of the most stupid thing ever known to mapping... a leak <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Basicly I'm calling out to any more experianced mappers to help me find it, i'm willing to send my RMF file to anyone that wishes to help (and i'm pretty confident not many people will want to nick my map anyway...).
Please don't just send me to the "Mapping FAQ" topic, i've tried it... not found anything that will help me
Also please don't just say learn on your own, its the only way to become a good mapper! Because I just want to for once, be able to release one of my maps without it having to be at full bright with terrible fps <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Please look into your hearts and help a fellow mapper? (Even if compared to most of you is very "noobie"...)

it shows you how to load pointfile, check for leaks, use box technique etc.
thanx to DarkATI for that <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

does this box need to be hollow? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Nope. Just make a huge box covering about half the map. Compile... if there is know leak you no the leak is somewhere inside the box so keep reducing the size of the box until you find the general area where the leak is and then look using the 3d view.
1: -1154, 1272 to -1152, 1270
2: 568, 376 to 584, 240
3: 2448, 536 to 2472, 588
I find Pointfile to be the most useless option Hammer has to offer. you Turn it on and get 5 different coloured lines Going all over the place. I still havent worked out how its supposed to help you.

Get Hammer 3.5 beta, you can follow the lines in the 3D view.

he means:
if there is NO leak you KNOW the leak is somewhere in the box*
kinda confusing how he switch them around.
pointfile is THE easiest way to find a leak. just load the .lin file and follow the line. the more red it comes the closer you're to the leak

Lots of thanks dude!
Now i know why i could never pin point the leak within the box... because i had 3 lol <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Very annoying how compile tools just say you have a leak... but not how many <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
THANKS AGAIN BTW! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Also, the box method is a horrible, horrible way to find leaks. It also doesn't work if there's more than one leak. Do yourself a favor and get Hammer 3.5. It lets you load a pointfile and follow the bright red line straight to the leak. Once I started using it I could find most leaks in under a minute.
