I would like too see another Sentry actully,more like the Alien II sentrys <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->
I can see a player playing as an Ohnos, with a skin of a marine. If he has a skulk teammate follow him as he charges the Marine Base, it would look like a skulk chasing a marine, but really an Ohnos and skulk attacking!!! <!--emo&:0--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'><!--endemo-->

if someone draws/shows a concept pic of a model, i'll probably give it a go <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
That's why you have <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/asrifle.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='::asrifle::'><!--endemo--> , <!--emo&::siege::--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/siege.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='::siege::'><!--endemo--> , <!--emo&::sentry::--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/turret.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='::sentry::'><!--endemo--> , <a href="http://www.cscentral.com/fun/flash/punk.php" target="_blank">this</a> and <a href="http://www.cscentral.com/fun/flash/punkbuster.php" target="_blank">this also</a>. actually, I've never hear of punkbuster besides in these flash movies, and don't know how it works. Will the VAC program du-hicky prevent that scenario I suggested?
Someone already cleared that up, the scenario you suggested is impossible. Model replacements are on a client to client basis (ONLY on your computer, not anyone elses) You will dictate if you want to replace a model or any of the other artwork. There is no way to change the Onos to a Marine, unless you do it yourself.
There are a couple alternate marine scetches floating around the Artwork section, like UkiTakuMuki's Geigestren (sp?) and my TSA 3rd Elites sketches.
But then again, I think an Aliens Colonial Marine conversion model would be pretty fitting too <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->
I don't know about you guys, but I personally won't be touching Natural-Selection's already perfect artwork, which kind of defeats my purpose of being here. I'll still check out this forum though, it's nice to see what other people do with NS's theme.
I'll probably stick to the default stuff for a while. Well, i will probably change them if a really good model comes out, or something that hits me just right.
Plus, on every half life mod i've played, i've become tired of playing the game and custom models are the perfect thing to get me back into it.
I'm definitely going to check this forum regularly and dl some of the new stuff, and they probably eventually go in game.
lol, i wouldnt need any custom models, after seeing the quality of the models that NS already have its good enough <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/pudgy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='::gorge::'><!--endemo-->

To each his own I say. My opinion is if you want a mod to be successfull, or even a game for that matter, make it modable. Skins, etc will keep a game alive for a long time.
Not to raise a sensitive issue, but remember how some people complain about no blood? I bet one of the first mods for this game is a blood pack.
I played CS stock for 2 years, but then decided to just goof around with different skins, etc. When NS has been around for 2 years I will probably do the same thing.
I think (but am not sure) that the blood is a server option in most/all HL mods. Unless the NS team hacked that part out of the code, all you'd have to do to get blood is turn it on from the server. I know of a cool set of blood sprites that someone made for FireArms, it might look cool over here, too.
But if someone makes a custom blood pack, make the alien blood green <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->
Making blood for the marines in NS will be a lot harder than you might expect. Currently, marine hits create sparks, not decals. I'm not saying it can't be done, just that it might be tougher to do. I don't know why anyone would go through the trouble to make this happen anyway. It won't add anything to the experience.
People will do it, because people think blood gushing is cool. Personaly I have updated BF1942 to a new blood patch so I could see if I was hitting somebody.
Green blood and sparks sounds like I will be able to tell just fine.
<img src="http://medlem.spray.se/mickel_rav/confederatesketch.jpg" border="0"> Wanna give it a shot? I don't have the back shot... But just think about it. It's not that different. The shinguards are strapped on, so you see straps on the back, and he has a bedroll and a large backpack on his back. But since there's jetpacks in NS, I guess you don't need the backpack.
I think the marines will be fine without the blood. If you think about it a little it makes sense. If they bleed it would be inside there armor. Besides, i have faith in the developers and their decisions.
Oh yah, the colors. The flak jacket is blue or green, depending on if the soldier is a Ranger or not. The pants are light grey. So is the rest of the under suit (the right sleeve under the jacket is). The greaves are dark grey. The vest is dark grey. The visor of the helmet is not transparent, and its black. The helmet is light grey, like most of the undersuit. The gloves are grey and have some black spots on them. Boots are black.
NS is worth double copies. One custom, one original. Or simply a pak file in the one and only <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo--> (please tell me you'll use pakfiles).
I would i.e. love to see how Star Craft would be in first person in case someone makes zerg models.
now there 's an idea. Ironsight Lerk spike shooters. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

and so it starts ...

hmm, i was supppposed to go make my geistregen models a loong time ago, but me ...being a bum... ^^
i guess ill still post some concept art then
for the marine and heavy marine models!
If I'll ever make/use custom skins, it'll just be modified originals, like adding a smiley to the LMG.

All we need is glimsharp......
I propose a model replacement for the tripmines of a skull, with the laser coming out of it's mouth open mouth.
