<a href='http://jaybe.org/info.htm' target='_blank'>POP goes the Gmail</a>

Program developed to access GMail via POP3.

Sounds good eh? Hope it works for those who wish to use it.

    Heard about it but I dont really mind leaving all my messages on the server seeing I can amply provide it.

    Um... doesn't using POP completely defeat the purpose of Gmail? (that purpose being that the messages stay on the server forevr)

    POP is just the protocol to talk to the mail severs. You can set the clients to leave messages on the server - I did that a while ago when I had email programs on both windows and linux (since I never knew which I'd be using at the time).

    It also meant I could read my mail at uni using the webmail interface (obviously not gmail, I have web hosting which gives me POP3 and webmail and a heap of other goodies)

    This is pretty cool though I feel slightly bad for cheating google out of the advertising monies. I can't wait for official POP3 access.

    Can't wait till the guy releases the source code for this so I can make it a perl script to run from my company servers.

    Or better yet integrate it into the Mozilla Thunderbird source <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I dono...

    this would require me to use an email program...

    It would also sorta destroy most of the point of GMail (the 1 gig storage is nice, but not the main point).

    As I have only used Pine up until now, I tihnk I will actualy be giving GMail's interface a shot.

    All I did was change my hompage from Google, to GMail, and hey, yah can google from it <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
