<div class="IPBDescription">Yahoo just upgraded to 100MB</div> Yeah, about 2 minutes after replying to the G-Mail thread by Fam, I went to check my yahoo account.

It's running slow as hell, but apparently they upgraded the storage amount to 100MB with a maximum email size of 10MB.

What's the deal, why is this trend expanding?

EDIT: Clarification.

    Because Gmail has sent a ripple through the market, and also because storage space is getting much cheaper.

    Maybe someone at Yahoo got infected by the happy bug. Or a brain burrowing worm, and has decided to give away free storage space before they die.

    Or like Fam said, Gmail is causing the competition to sweat.

    T'is a good feeling indeed!

    I'd assume it's because the likes of Microsoft and Yahoo can no longer hide that fact that 2 megabytes of space is so pitifully insignificant nowadays, and that the customers are demanding more space. I'd also assume that this is going to be a trend for awhile <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    The beauty of business competition. Makes it even more awesome for us.

    Either way, I'm sticking to fastmail.fm. I thought at GMail, the makers get to read your mail?

    You can't delete your mail. Ever.

    (unless something has changed which I am woefully unaware of)

    I've got my GMail account

    I am never going back to my spam infested rat hole at Yahoo. They've only increased their limit to stop everyone jumping ship and heading to Google.

    It's rather pathetic that they wanted to charge you money before for like a... 20Mb account.

    Well played Yahoo. A desperate act ain't gonna stop this.

    Spam isn't really a problem for me with my yahoo mail account. It can vary wildly from day to day, but I average only five messages a day - some days I don't get any spam at all. The amount you get spammed is really only a result of how careful you are with your address.

    Oh, and nice avatar Daedalus. Calvin & Hobbes for teh win. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
